Monk
Base Class: Monk

A master of the Way of the Warrior-Poet is renowned among allies and feared among enemies. A Warrior-Poet rarely speaks outside of battle and communicates mostly through gestures and written language. They learn techniques to empower their voice and weapons with ki.

Ki-Empowered Voice

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to channel your ki into your voice. You can spend 1 ki point to cast charm person, healing word or command at their lowest levels without providing material or somatic components. Additionally, you gain the guidance and word of radiance cantrips, if you don’t already know them. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Once you reach 5th level in this class, you can spend additional ki points to increase the level of a spell you cast using this feature. The spell's level increases by 1 for each additional ki point you spend. The maximum number of ki points you can spend to cast a spell in this way (including its base ki point cost and any additional ki points you spend to increase its level) is determined by your monk level, as shown below.

Monk Levels Maximum Ki Points for a Spell
5th-8th 3
9th-12th 4
13th-16th 5
17th-20th 6

Poet of War

By 6th level, your training has strengthened your voice allowing you to further empower it with your ki. You can use a bonus action and spend 1 ki point to add your Wisdom modifier to any Charisma skill check you make using your voice. You can use this feature after you see the roll but before you know the effects of the roll.

Rhythmic Strikes

At 11th level, you learn to set off vibrations within your foes that resonate with the natural rhythm of your voice and strikes. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 3 ki points to have your melee weapon attacks deal additional thunder damage until the end of your next turn. The additional thunder damage is equal to your martial arts damage die.

Additionally, you gain resistance to thunder damage.

Voice of Thunder

At 17th level, your ki resonates within you, storing energy to be released as devastating shock waves through your foes. As an action, you can send these shock waves out. Each creature of your choice within 20 feet of you makes a Constitution saving throw. A creature that fails takes 8d8 thunder damage, is pushed 10 feet away, and knocked prone. A creature that succeeds on the save takes half damage and isn’t pushed or knocked prone. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Additionally, you gain immunity to thunder damage.
