Base Class: Cleric
You are dedicated to the deities of the tastiest snack there is. These include deities such as Loafetta, Garlikio, and the very evil Chezmen. They give food (garlic bread) to the homeless, but they cannot do this alone. That's where you come in.
Toasted
At 1st level, you have become a chef to appease your deity.
You gain proficiency with cook's utensils.
Disciple Of Garlic Bread
Starting at 1st level, you have received the ability to make garlic bread for those who need it.
You may create garlic bread at any time. You may only make 2 average sized pieces at a time, and you cannot make more until the previous ones are eaten. This is not disabled by an anti-magic field or similar effects.
Feed The Hungry And Gorge The Wicked
Starting at 2nd level, you may channel your power to feed those who need it.
You may use your Channel Divinity to do one of these things.
You give all hungry people and creatures in a 100 ft. radius the nutrients they need to live. Or, you give one creature of your choice you can see within 30 ft. one level of exhaustion.
Butter Slick
Using the power of garlic butter, you may slip up your enemies.
Starting at 6th level, you may cast Grease at will. You may also use Channel Divinity to cast grease as a bonus action.
Garlic Infusion
At 8th level, you gain the ability to infuse your weapons with the power of garlic, which causes them to deal an additional 1d12 poison damage because of food poisoning. This does twice the damage against vampires.
This increases to 2d12 at 14th level.
Delicious Retribution
Starting at 17th level, you may send those opposing your deity away forever.
You may use an action to bring any creature with less than 100 HP and an alignment opposite of yours to 0 HP. You must take a long rest before you can use this feature again.
Yes
Can't wait for one of my players to bring this up in a vampire centered campaign..
I mean your concerns about this being overpowered aside (it's definitely vastly underpowered), because the damage is poison damage, d12 seems fine. Poison is the most-resisted damage type in the game, a d12 of poison is generally worth approximately the same as a d8 of radiant or necrotic.
As for Grease, a non-damaging first-level spell that creates battlefield hazards for both enemies and allies is not too powerful for at-will use on such an underpowered subclass.
are people actually having questions and suggestions and serious chats about this subclass
what spells go with this?
it nu say
please i read this to my party and we laughed for five minutes
Idea: For Delicious Retribution instead of them just dying they should disintegrate into garlic bread crumbs
Yes
Wow, I can't believe it took me this long to notice the updated Garlic Bread domain you made based on the advice I posted on the original. I'm super flattered that you took it into consideration and did something with it! Also glad you decided to keep the original around too, while the advice I gave you want intended to put the domain more inline with the rules and themes of other domains, the original is awesome in its own right.
At first I was worried that my advice would ruin the "charm" the domain had, but you incorporated it really well and gave it your own personal flair (I love the double poison damage against Vampires). I'm glad to see most of the responses have been positive with many other people also giving advice. Just don't get overwhelmed by it all, what matters at the end is that you're happy with it! Glad to see this thing take off and get the attention it deserves.
But now I have the conundrum of choosing between this one or the original for my future Garlic Bread Domain Cleric. Why must life be so difficult?
This is so funny, I LOVE IT!
Feeding the hungry was pretty much based on the idea of being a mobile soup kitchen. The creation thing is more useful than it seems, as 2 pieces of garlic bread can do a lot more than you would think. You just have to be creative with it.
EDIT: This isn't the current version. The newer one is here: The Garlic Bread Domain Class for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) Fifth Edition (5e) - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com)
i think it might be a cool idea that at a higher level, the garlic bread made with being a disciple should grant temporary hit points. like at level 6 or 8, the garlic bread that has been created grants a number of temporary hit points equal to a d4 + con mod.
also with the Feed The Hungry And Gorge The Wicked, you could also make it so that at a higher level, feeding the hungry also stabilizes anyone who is unconscious in that radius, like maybe at level 14? and gorging the wicked at a higher level, you can decide if you want to give someone up to two levels of exhaustion at the same level as the higher level of feeding.
idk, i feel like the creation of garlic bread is great, but also needs just a little more utility; same as feeding the hungry.
ok let me try to explain a modifier is like strength when useing melee weapons you add lets say charisma to the roll to hit and damage and clerics use wisdom for some reason so keep it as charisma or change it to wisdom :)
You are no longer hungry? The biggest points of this are to always have food and to find creative solutions to problems.
Yes hello, so, when people eat the garlic bread from "Disciple Of Garlic Bread", what happens? Do they heal? Is it delicious? Do they get a bonus to a stat or something?
I have no idea. I haven't actually played that much DND (shocking, I know), and when I do I tend to avoid classes with magic, because I have trouble paying attention long enough to choose spells. TLDR: Whoops. I'm not sure which part of that is the problem or how to fix it. Sorry.
hi, it seems that you made the spell casting modifier for this cleric subclass charisma instead of wisdom.
I wanna play a Vampire Garlic Bread Cleric
1 gp to the swear jar.
