Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Utilizing ancient dwarven magic, you have learned how to externalize a part of your own essence and to forge it into a magic weapon. In contrast to The Hexblade, a Soulforger isn’t empowered by a magic weapon but rather create a magic weapon from within themselves.

Restriction: Only available to Dwarves.

Hex Warrior

This subclass is a variation on the Hexblade. DnDBeyond requires this feature be included in order to have the Hex Weapon feature available.

Expanded Spell List

As a Dwarven Soulforger you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you. These spells were removed from this subclass to qualify for publishing and will need to be added in order to show up in the Character Builder.

Soulforger

At 1st level, you acquire the training necessary to forge a piece of your soul into a weapon. You gain proficiency with smith’s tools.

The power of the soulforging ritual allows you to mystically channel your will through a particular weapon. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can touch one weapon that you are proficient with and that lacks the two-handed property. When you attack with that weapon, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls. This benefit lasts until you finish a long rest. If you later gain the Pact of the Blade feature, this benefit extends to every pact weapon you conjure with that feature, no matter the weapon’s type.

Soulforged Weapon

Starting at 1st level, you gain the ability to magically empower your soulforged weapon. As a bonus action, you ignite your soulforged weapon with the radiant energy of your soul for 1 minute. This effect ends early if you are incapacitated. While your weapon is alight, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your weapon sheds bright light in a 10 foot radius and dim light for another 10 feet.
  • You gain a bonus to damage rolls you make with your soulforged weapon. The bonus equals your proficiency bonus. The damage type is radiant energy.
  • Any attack roll is a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20.

You can’t use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest.

Bonus Proficiencies

You are proficient with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons.

Soulforged Armor

Starting at 6th level, you learn to channel radiant energy into not just your Soulforged weapon but your armor as well. You are now resistant to radiant damage. While this feature is active, you can add your proficiency bonus to your AC for 1 minute.

Magic of the Forge

Starting at 10th level, you learn the spell Fabricate. It counts as a warlock spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of spells you know. You can also cast it once without a spell slot, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest.

Whenever you cast this spell, you can create items with a high level of craftsmanship without having proficiency in the appropriate artisan’s tools.

Improved Soulforged Weapon

Starting at 14th level, your Soulforging ability grows. When empowered, your Soulforged weapon now emits bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. In addition, weapon attacks made with it deal an extra 2d8 radiant damage on a hit.
