Base Class: Cleric
Using rituals and symbols of spiritual devotion, these clerics show their faith through the painful and arduous process of tattoos. By sacrificing time, blood, pain and materials, these clerics prove their faith to their deities, undergoing innumerable hours of tattooing throughout their lives. Going so far as to sacrifice existing tattoos in order to get even more ink embedded into new skin to show their gods their endurance, fortitude and humility. However there is always one tattoo they keep on their bodies as an Arcane Focus and the symbol of their connection to the divine.
This circle has a reputation for being evil, as many good aligned gods balk at the notion of bloodletting rituals being done in their name. But the clerics of this circle are as varied as the styles of designs they embed into skin.
Bonus Proficiency
When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain proficiency with Tattooists Tools, Performance and Medicine
Disciple of the Skin and Flesh
At 1st level, you gain the Resistance and Spare The Dying cantrips if you don't already know them
Channel Divinity: Sacrificial Ink
As an action, you can use Channel Divinity and magically sacrifice a portion of a tattoo from your body to cast one spell up to level 5 without expending a spell slot. Magically sacrificing a tattoo forcibly rips ink and blood from your skin causing damage to you of 1d6+ level of the spell you perform. With this you can cast any spell you know, even if it is unprepared.
You have a finite amount of sacrificial tattoos on your body. Sacrificial Ink can only be used up to 4 times before you must spend a long rest reapplying these tattoos either yourself or from a proficient tattooist. At level 8 you have garnered more favor from your deity and it consumes less of your tattoos to channel this power; you can now use this ability 8 times before needing to reapply tattoos.
Any time you use a rest to apply tattoos you do not gain the benefits of a rest. Applying tattoos costs you materials (needles, ink, etc. that must later be repurchased) as well.
Martyrs Mark
On a short rest, you can spend the duration tattooing one ally with a small (no less than a 3 inch square) mark on any part of the body they choose. During this time, neither of you gain the benefits of a short rest. This consumes tattoo materials such as needles and ink.
In battle when that ally is attacked, as a reaction before knowing the amount of damage, you can choose to invoke the Martyrs Mark which magically diverts any damage they take onto yourself. This damage cannot be reduced and any resistances you have to the damage type doesn't count.
God Skin
Your devotion and sacrifices to your god has made them sympathetic to your cause. They give your tattoos the power to protect you as armor. While wearing no armor and holding no shield, you gain all the benefits of the Mage Armor spell
Ink Death
Once per long rest, you can call upon your deity, promising them blood and pain of immense measure as sacrifice. In doing so you sacrifice every existing tattoo on your body other than your Arcane Focus. After designating a target within 60 feet of yourself, Your tattoos disappear and your veins turn black, bulging and bursting beneath your skin. Your eyes turn black and ink pours out of your eyes, mouth, nose and ears in a terrible, painful shower. You lose up to half of your max Hp and do equal Necrotic damage to your opponent. If you are below half of your max HP when you do this, you reduce to 0 HP and immediately fail 2 death saving throws.

Posted Nov 22, 2018My first dnd homebrew! as such I expect to have to do some editing but I'd love to hear opinions and constructive criticism. I'm a tattoo artist irl and always wanted to make a cleric optimized for the character I'd like to play.
