Base Class: Rogue
Wherever there are Chimneys, there are Chimney Sweeps to clean them, especially if those Chimneys happen to belong to particularly *wealthy* individuals. Years of cleaning out these cramped and dark spaces for a measly few coins, has often meant they have no other option but to steal. The most common targets are the wealthy elite who's very own mansions and castles they cleaned the previous day, ironically often using the Chimneys as a way in. However, a few of these petty burglars and thieves have truly mastered the art of skulking through the shadows and now use their trade of a Chimney Sweep as a disguise in order to hide in plain sight and gain access to the wealthy elites homes without anyone suspecting foul play. These Rogues can occasionally serve as spies or assassins but tend to focus on using the darkness to steal valuable artefacts that would otherwise be impossible for them to get their hands on. Either way, it's highly unlikely you'll ever seen these individuals during the black of night, unless of course you are the one with the bounty on your head or the valuable artefact in your hands.
Dark Magic
Starting when you choose this Archetype at 3rd level, you gain Chimney Soot equal to half your Rogue level (rounded down). Calculate this every time you level up.
You can expend a Chimney Soot to cast Darkness, Darkvision, Pass without Trace, or Silence, without providing material components. Whenever you use this feature to cast the Darkness spell you can see through the darkness created by the spell. Additionally, you gain the Control Flames cantrip if you don't already know it.
Tricks of the Trade
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level you also gain the ability to, as a bonus action, create an object of hardened shadow. This construct can take the form of your thieves tools, or a dagger. Objects created with this feature fade back to shadow when they leave the hands of the Chimney Sweep. (Credit to Bondye who created this).
Night Shift
At 9th level, you gain the ability to step from one shadow into another. When you are in dim light or darkness, as a bonus action you can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also in dim light or darkness. You then have advantage on the first melee or ranged attack you make before the end of the turn.
Cloak of Shadows
By 13th level, you have learned to become one with the shadows. When you are in an area of dim light or darkness, you can use your action to become invisible. You remain invisible until you make an attack, cast a spell, or are in an area of bright light.
Wisp of Smoke
Starting at 17th level, you can spend 6 of your Chimney Soot as a bonus action to transform yourself into a Wisp of Smoke. In this smoke of form, you have resistance to all damage except force and radiant damage, and you can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. You take 5 force damage if you end your turn inside an object.
If you are hit with the Gust of Wind spell or a similar effect then the spell ends early and you return to your previous form.
You remain in this form for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, if you die, or if you dismiss it as a bonus action.
