Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Winter is an ancient tradition that only persists in the northern reaches of the world, where snowfall dusts the ground all year round and darkness covers the land for days at a time in the depths of winter. Paladins who choose to bind themselves to the deities of winter by swearing this oath are rare: the memory of these rituals has all but crumbled into dust, as fear of cold and darkness led people to seek other, warmer faiths. However, the knights of winter know that to embrace the cold and the darkness brings not death, but strength - and the power to guard others against the shadows of night.

TENETS OF WINTER

The tenets of the Oath of Winter have been all but forgotten, but a select few still hold them as sacred. This oath emphasises the importance of strength and protecting the weak.

Stand firm. When faced with adversity, do not cower from it. Stay resolute, and do not let yourself be broken.

Shelter the Light. Though your path may lie in darkness, light is to be cherished. Protect those who bring light to the world and are pure of heart from evil at any cost.

Feel no fear. Trust in your own capabilities to survive any situation.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Winter's Fortitude. You can use your Channel Divinity to imbue yourself with with divine energy and steel yourself against the forces of nature, gaining advantage on Constitution saving throws for 1 minute. At 6th level and higher, this effect also applies to friendly creatures in your aura.

Wrath of the Blizzard. You can use your Channel Divinity to strike back at those who harm you or your allies with the implacable power of a blizzard. As a reaction when a creature you can see within 30 feet of you deals damage to you or a friendly creature, you extend your hand towards them and summon the power of a blizzard to momentarily surround them. They instantly take radiant or cold damage (your choice) equal to half the damage they just dealt.

Additionally, the creature's speed is reduced to 0 until the end of their next turn, unless they are immune to cold damage, in which case their speed is unaffected, or resistant to cold damage, in which case their speed is halved.
