Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Striding over rooftops of a moonlit city, rangers who belong to this enclave deviate from the practice of shunning society in favor for the wilds, instead preferring to run among the streets and hide along the stone and concrete of the cities. City striders have learned the flow of the city as almost like a language, reading the movement of people in the streets and the time of day to gain information on parts of the city far from where they stand. Because of their penchant for gaining information, they are often welcomed into criminal organizations as a form of reconnaissance, not seeing their true potential outside of their street reading skills.

City Strider Magic

Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the city strider spells table. This spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of ranger spells you know.

Street Stride

At 3rd level, your experiences of running across the street and rooftops of a city has molded your physique. You gain the following features:

  • Your movement speed increases by 10 when you take the dash or disengage action.
  • You have advantage on Acrobatics and Athletics skills when jumping off of surfaces(ex. jumping from building to building or over a chasm).
  • While there are 2 or more creatures within 5 feet of you, you have advantage on Stealth checks.

Provocative Strike

At 3rd level, you are able to attack your foes in such a way to draw their attention towards you. You can choose a creature within 30 feet and mark them for your attacks. The first attack on the creature that hits for the duration does an extra 1d4 of the weapon’s damage and the creature must make a wisdom saving throw equal to your Ranger spell save dc, if the creature fails they can only attack you until the end of your next turn. The creature can choose to repeat the save at the beginning of each of their turns, once a creature saves out of the effect , they can not be effected by it for 24 hours. You can choose to end the effect early as a free action, this does not impose the immunity to the effect, nor does the initial save of the feature.

Street Reader

At 7th level, you are able to magically read the patterns of people walking, passing conversations, odd glances, all to gain information about your surroundings. As an action, you can make an Insight check, if the check succeeds, choose one of the following effects, the effects last for a day.

Events. You are able to tell if anything significant or out of the norm has happened anywhere in the city and it’s general direction.

Danger. You are able to find out if there is anywhere within the city that posses a direct threat to the people of the city or you.

Tension. You are able to see if there is tension within the people, actions during surprise rounds cannot be made against you for the duration.

you can use this feature once per long rest.

Additional Read

At 11th level, you are able to gain more information from your street readings, you can choose one additional read and gain the following two new readings.

Aid. You are able to sense if there is anywhere in the city that could aid in your endeavors, be it providing useful equipment or information, or something else.

Change. You are able to tell when a crucial event will eventually happen and where it will most likely take place, though you can’t tell what it will be.

Aspect of the Streets

At 15th level, you are able to use your knowledge of the moving cogs of society to give you a glimpse into what is about to come. By spending an hour concentrating, as if on a spell, you peer forward into events of your location up to 2d4 days. The dm will describe to you an event of varying importance based on a percentile roll. A 0-25 is not very important, a 26-50 is semi important, a 51-75 is important, and a 76-100 is incredibly important. What “important” means depends on either your or the party’s goals, and will usually vary in how they apply, important events don’t always mean game changing events or public knowledge.

you can use this feature once per long rest.
