Base Class: Rogue
A Ronin lives without a master wandering alone and honing their skills with a blade. They tend to work alone but are capable of assisting a team with distractions and single target damage. They rely on the mastery of their blade and speed to execute their enemies in a single swift motion.
Lightning Quick Footwork
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn how to land a strike and then slip away without reprisal. During your turn, if you make a melee attack against a creature, that creature can’t make opportunity attacks against you for the rest of your turn.
Lone Wolf
Starting at 3rd level, your confidence in your strength propels you into battle. You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Charisma modifier.
You also gain an additional way to use your Sneak Attack; you don’t need advantage on the attack roll to use your Sneak Attack against a creature if you are within 5 feet of it, no other creatures are within 5 feet of you, and you don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll. All the other rules for Sneak Attack still apply to you.
Provocation
At 9th level, your tongue becomes as sharp as your blade. As an action, you can make a Charisma (Persuasion) check contested by a creature’s Wisdom (Insight) check. The creature must be able to hear you, and the two of you must share a language.
If you succeed on the check and the creature is hostile to you, it will use it's turn to attack you or move toward you and can’t make opportunity attacks against targets other than you. This effect lasts for 1 minute, until one of your companions attacks the target or affects it with a spell, or until you and the target are more than 60 feet apart.
Iaijutsu
Starting at 13th level, you can use an action you can use 10 feet of movement to take a quick leap back then dart forward drawing your sword and slicing through an enemy appearing on the opposite side of them. This attack deals an extra 2d6 slashing damage. It does provoke attacks of opportunity from other hostile creatures except the one you are attacking. If the attack misses you still appear on the other side of the creature and are unable to move for the rest of your turn. You can use this action as many times as your proficiency bonus and you recover all uses at the end of a long rests.
The Oncoming Storm
Beginning at 17th level, your mastery of your blade allows you to enter a state of intense focus in a fight. For 1 minute all Iaijutsu attacks are at advantage as are all attacks against enemies that you are within 5 ft. of with as long as no other creatures are within 5 ft. of you. Every time you draw your sword in this state it sounds similarly to a thunderclap.
