Base Class: Monk
Practitioners of the Way of the Eternal Springtime focus on meditation and relaxed, soft combat forms. Speed, flexibility, precision, and balance are the keys of this form rather than raw power and strength.
Little Idea
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn a relaxing technique that is the basis of all of you other forms, where you alternate tensing and relaxing the muscles to gain greater control of them. You can double the value of your dexterity modifier for initiative rolls. Additionally, when you activate your flurry of blows feature, you gain a +1 bonus to the attack rolls of the unarmed strikes you make as a bonus action.
Seeking the Bridge
At 6th level, you begin to utilize your movements to greater purpose. You gain the following benefits:
- If you are within 10’ of a creature but not able to reach it with an attack, you may instantly move within range to make an attack without using any of your movement or provoking opportunity attacks.
- When you deal damage to a creature with 2 unarmed strikes granted by your flurry of blows feature, you can knock that creature off balance, inflicting one of the following effects on it:
- it cannot use reactions until the end of its next turn
- It has disadvantage on any strength (athletics) and dexterity (acrobatics) checks until after its next turn
- It has disadvantage on the attack roll for the first attack it makes on its next turn.
Thrusting Fingers
At 11th level, you learn techniques to instantly reposition yourself and create new centers of balance. You gain the following benefits:
- You gain advantage on saving throws to avoid being grappled, knocked prone, or restrained.
- You can use your reaction to instantly turn to face an attacking creature that you are aware of, negating any advantage granted by flanking, as well as damage bonuses such as that granted by sneak attack.
- If you miss a melee attack, you can use your reaction to make an additional unarmed strike against the same target.
Eternal Flurry
At 17th level, your striking speed has reached its apex. When you use 1 ki point to activate flurry of blows, you may now make three unarmed strikes as a bonus action. Additionally, you may spend 1 additional ki point to increase that number of unarmed strikes to five.
