Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

An undying is an ancient force that is deeply entwined with the powers of death. It may be a vampire lord, a lich, a powerful ghost, or some other entity of undeath. You may be seeking the secret to immortality that they have achieved, knowledge they've collected in their lifetime, or a piece of their necrotic power. In return, they may ask you to drain the life force of others, collect artifacts to increase their sway over the living, perform necromantic rituals to gain power, or generally be an agent for their goals in the world of the living.

Specter's Paths

Starting at 1st level, you can track the journey of a recently departed soul. You can take an action to observe the remains of a creature you can see that has been dead for no more than 1 hour. If you do, you instantly learn which plane of existence its soul is on or if the soul has been destroyed. You do not know its exact location or the condition the soul is in. If magic would block their soul from being located, then you think the soul has been destroyed.

Grim Reservoir

Also starting at 1st level, you can extract arcane power from your soul as a bonus action, regaining a spell slot. However, the next time you go unconscious, you automatically fail a number of death saving throws equal to the amount of times you've used this feature since you last finished a long rest. If you use this feature four times without finishing a long rest, you instantly die. You can only ever use this feature four times between long rests.

Mortal Coil

Starting at 6th level, your patron has taught you to manipulate and redirect death to best benefit you. Whenever you take damage that isn’t radiant, you are able to imbue your next attack or damaging spell with mortal energy, dealing an additional amount of necrotic damage equal to double your proficiency modifier.

Additionally, when you are reduced to 0 hit points, your soul is able to lash out at nearby foes as a reaction. You are instead reduced to 1 hit point and each creature within 20 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 2d10 + your Warlock level necrotic damage on a failure and half as much on a success. You gain a number of hit points equal to half the damage you dealt and gain 1 level of exhaustion.

Once you regain hit points in this way, you must finish a long rest before doing so again.

Undying nature

Beginning at 10th level, you can hold your breath indefinitely and you don’t require food, water, or sleep, although you still benefit from long and short rests as normal.

In addition, you age at a slower rate. For every 10 years that pass, your body ages only 1 year, you are immune to being magically aged, and you are immune to poison damage.

Veil of Oblivion

When you reach 14th level, you learn to shroud yourself in the appearance of death. You become resistant to necrotic damage and appear dead to any spells or effects that would reveal if you’re alive or not.

Additionally, you may take an action to choose a number of creatures within 30 feet of you equal to half your level (possibly including yourself). These creatures become invisible to all undead creatures with an intelligence of 9 or lower for 10 minutes. This effect ends early if any of the creatures make an attack or cast a harmful spell. You are unable to do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
