Blood Hunter
Base Class: Blood Hunter

The Order of the Duskwarden uses vampirism against vampires and the undead to protect the innocent. The Hunter’s Bane potion used to transform mortals into Blood Hunters is infused with the blood of the Grandmaster of the Order, Mavren Fein, granting minor vampirism to the members of the Order. The transformation grants members the benefits of vampirism such as slowed aging, heightened senses and speed, and greater potency for their blood rites and curses, without the bloodthirst that true vampires have

Rite of the Dusk

When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the Rite of the Dusk esoteric rite (detailed below).

Rite of the Dusk:

  • Your rite damage is considered radiant against vampires and other undead and necrotic against the living.
  • If you hit a vampire or other undead with your Rite of the Dusk, it suffer additional radiant damage equal to your Intelligence Modifier.
  • Upon reaching 11th level, creatures other than vampire and undead suffer this additional damage of the appropriate type.

Black is your Blood

At 7th level, your vampiric blood combined with the Hunter’s Bane has become deadly to the dark creatures you hunt. Whenever you take damage from a vampire or other corporeal undead within 5 feet of you, you deal radiant damage equal to your crimson rite die against that creature.

The Gifts of the Dusk

At 11th level, your vampirism combined with the Hunter’s Bane has gifted you with the unnatural abilities of your foes. Whenever you deal damage with the Rite of the Dusk, you gain temporary hit points equal to your rite damage, not exceeding your hit point maximum. You can use this ability a number of times per short rest equal to your intelligence modifier.

Axis of Mortality

At 15th level, your understanding of your own vampirism and mortality has granted you the knowledge of how to impose the foreign concept of mortality onto the corporeal dead. You gain access to the Blood Curse named Axis of Mortality.

Rite Revival

At 18th level when you are taken down to less than half of your maximum hit points (including the maximum reduction from your rite) by damage you can use your reaction to activate this transformation, gaining the following effects:

  • A 10ft radius aura around you becomes an area of bright sunlight.
  • You are immune to the charmed condition and everyone in your aura gains advantage on all Wisdom saves.
  • Vampires and Corporeal Undead within your aura treat it as difficult terrain and have disadvantage on all saving throws against spells or curses that you cast.
  • You can spend half of your unspent hit dice to cast Sunbeam from your weapon as a reaction at 6th level, adding and rolling your rite damage as normal. If you use this feature your transformation ends immediately after. (no concentration holding it or casting it multiple times).
