Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

A sorcerer with natural power over illusions.

Illusion Magic

1st-level Soul of Illusion feature

You learn the Minor Illusion cantrip which doesn't count towards your maximum of known cantrips. You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Illusion Magic table, below. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be an illusion spell but can be from any spell list.

Illusion Casting

1st-level Soul of Illusion feature

Your power over illusion magic makes it easier for you to cast spells. When you cast a spell you know from the School of Illusion you can replace any Somatic and Verbal components the spell requires with a single Somatic component instead. You can also ignore any material component requirement if it doesn't have a gold cost. If the material component does have a gold cost then you may reduce the gold cost by 50 gold pieces for each Sorcerer level you have.

Starting from 3rd level in this class, when you cast a spell you know from the School of Illusion you can cast it by expending a spell slot as normal or by spending a number of sorcery points equal to the spell’s level. The spell must be 7th level or lower. When cast using Sorcery Points though this feature you can completely ignore all Somatic and Verbal components required by the spell.

Malleable Illusions

Starting at 6th level, when you cast an illusion spell that has a duration of 1 minute or longer, you can use your action to change the nature of that illusion (using the spell’s normal parameters for the illusion).

Illusion Mastery

Beginning at 14th level your simpler illusions are now even easier to cast with some requiring almost no effort at all. Choose a 1st level spell from any spell list that is from the School of Illusion: you learn that spell and it is a Sorcerer spell for you. You can cast this spell at 1st level at-will, without requiring any spell slots.

Additionally choose a 3rd level or lower spell from any spell list that is from the School of Illusion: you learn that spell and it is a Sorcerer spell for you. You can cast that spell once at 3rd level without requiring any spell slots. Once you have done so you cannot do so again until you complete a short or long rest, but you can still cast the spell using spell slots or sorcery points as normal. ((Note: due to limitations in the homebrew system a spell cannot be added to the sheet as both 'once per rest' and as normal casting from a single selection, nor can the list be accurately limited to any particular school. Please use D&D Beyond's Spell search to find the spells you want then select them here.))

The spells added do not count towards your maximum of known spells. If you wish to choose spells you already know you may swap them for different spells, following the relevant spell swapping rules for the Spellcasting and Illusion Magic features, and then add them again through this feature. This is in addition to the normal spell swapping you may do on obtaining this level.

Illusory Reality

From 18th level any attempt to identify an illusion resulting from a spell you have cast using a Perception or Investigation check is made at disadvantage. Your illusion spells cannot be detected through Identify, Detect Magic or True Seeing spells - for example an illusory object will seem like an ordinary real object to these spells and Detect Magic will not let anyone sense magic if the only magic nearby is your illusion nor reveal any aura on any visual illusion. Your illusions will also fool senses such as truesight, tremorsense or blindsight.

In addition, you have learned the secret of weaving shadow magic into your illusions to give them a semi-reality. When you cast an illusion spell of 1st level or higher, you can choose one inanimate, nonmagical object that is part of the illusion and make that object real. You can do this on your turn as a bonus action while the spell is ongoing. The object remains real for 10 minutes or until you choose to make it unreal again as an action. For example, you can create an illusion of a bridge over a chasm and then make it real long enough for your allies to cross. The object can’t deal damage or otherwise directly harm anyone.
