Base Class: Rogue

Dancing and Weaving through shadows to strike your enemies.

The Dancer In The Night

You gain a number of benefits when working in the shadows

  • You don't provoke Attacks of Opportunity from targets you attack while you and/or your target are in an area of low-light or darker.
  • You no longer have a disadvantage to sight-based perception checks while in low-light
  • Once per turn, a weapon attack you make that wouldn't normally have added sneak attack damage may deal an extra 1d6 damage while you and/or your target are in an area of low-light or darker.
  • You gain an extra 10ft of movement so long as you start your turn in an area of low light or darker
  • You gain Blind-Sight out to 10ft, or if you already have Blind-Sight you gain an additional 5ft.

Penumbra

For 1 minute, or until you lose Concentration (as if concentrating on a spell) a 15ft radius around you becomes 1 step darker. This ability does not affect your ability to see, only others around you.
For instance, Bright light becomes dim light in that area, however, you can still see as if it was bright light.
Dim light becomes darkness, and darkness becomes magical darkness that you can see through.

This ability ends immediatly while under direct sunlight or while in the area of the spell "Daylight", or while under the effects of the spell "Fairy Fire"
This ability can be activated a number of times per Long Rest equal to double your Proficiency Modifier

Shadowstep

Starting at 9th Level you gain the ability to use the shadows as a pathway to move quickly and unseen.

You gain the ability to as a Bonus Action teleport from one shadow to another. You may teleport any number of times until you have moved out to a total distance in feet of 20 times your Proficiency Modifier per short rest.

Each individual teleport may be out to a maximum distance of 10 times your proficiency modifier.

The spent distance is halved if you start and end the teleport in an area of darkness or magical darkness.

Weaving Shadows

Starting at 9th level you may spend uses of Penumbra to create spell-like effects or to regain use of your Shadowstep ability. You may cast these spells without Verbal, Somatic, or material components, in the case of a saving throw, INT will be used as your spellcasting ability modifier.

  • You may cast Silence, but the radius is halved, and the spell is always centered on you.
  • You may cast Darkness, you can see through the Darkness when you cast it this way, but you make perception checks at Disadvantage unless you have Penumbra active at the time.
  • You may cast Shadow Blade
  • You may also spend 1 use to regain 20ft of Shadowstep

Umbral Fortitude

Starting at 13th level when you take a short rest you may spend 3 Hit Die and regain 1 use of Penumbra, you may also as an Action spend 40ft of Shadowstep to regain 1 use of Penumbra.

As well, you gain proficiency on Wisdom Saving Throws and the effects of Evasion work for any saving throw for which you are proficient.

Shade Strike

At 17th level your mastery of manipulating shadows allows you to strike targets from a distance.

You may use your Action and spend a number of feet of Shadowstep to make a melee weapon attack against a target at a range equal to the distance of Shadowstep you spent, and following the same usage rules as Shadowstep.

Any damage dealt by this attack counts as Necrotic damage unless you are using the Shadow Blade spell, in which case you may have the attack deal Psychic damage instead.

You have Advantage when making this melee attack and attacks with this ability are automatic Critical hits on targets who are Surprised.
