Blood Hunters who follow belong to the Order of the Deathbringer are those who died at one point or another in their life and simply denied Death's invitation. Thus, they have become
harbingers of death and are tasked with being the new deliverers of death to whomever crosses them. Deathbringers are feared across the lands as those who show no mercy to the one's they have chosen be next. It is said that in your final hours, a Deathbringer will consume all yours fears and sins and revel, knowing they have done their job and done it well.
Rite of the Damned
When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the Rite of the Damned esoteric rite (detailed below).
Rite of the Damned. Your rite damage is necrotic damage. While the rite is active, you gain the following benefits:
- Any living foliage or small creatures within 20 feet shrivel and die.
- You have resistance to necrotic and radiant damage.
- Your weapon deals one additional hemocraft die of rite damage when you hit a celestial or creature with a good alignment.
Reaper's Mark
Beginning at 3rd level, you have accepted your duty as death's swift deliverer. At the beginning of combat before initiative is rolled, choose one creature that you can see. That creature is given the Reaper's Mark. When attacking a creature with the Reaper's Mark, you may add your Hemocraft to either the attack or damage roll without taking the damage. This can only be used for one attack per turn. When a creature with the Reaper's Mark is killed, choose a new creature you can see and give that creature the Reaper's Mark.
Reaper's Wrath
When you reach 7th level, when attacking a creature with the Reaper's Mark, you gain the following benefits:
- You may reroll a 1 or 2 on either attack or damage once per attack action.
- You gain advantage when attacking a creature with the Reaper's Mark.
- After killing a creature with the Reaper's Mark, you may move up to your movement speed. Creatures that you may pass gain an attack of opportunity at disadvantage. You may stop in front of one creature and make a close attack against them. This ability can only be used once per turn.
Brand of Vulnerability
Beginning at 11th level, your Brand of Vulnerability now exposes a fragment of your foe’s essence, leaving them vulnerable to your Crimson Rite. Whenever you damage a branded creature with your Crimson Rite, your weapon deals one additional hemocraft die of rite damage. In addition, the branded creature can’t gain advantage on attacks or gain the effects of resistances.
Blood Curse of the Wrathful
At 15th level, you’ve honed your hemocraft to tear wicked influence from your allies, punishing those who would infiltrate their body and mind. You gain the Blood Curse of the Wrathful for your Blood Maledict feature. This doesn’t count against your number of blood curses known.
Reaper's Embrace
Upon reaching 18th level, you have learning to turn your body into a trap of it's own. When grappled with a creature, you may spend your bonus action to force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 17). If the creature fails, they take 5d6 necrotic damage and your are healed that many hit points. If the creature succeeds, they take half the amount of damage and you only heal half the amount of damage.
