Monk
Base Class: Monk

The use of Ki is an important part of any monk's training. Practitioners of the Way of the Focused Breath consider Ki to be the greatest resource of life, and that it is their duty to learn to utilize it in order to purify and strenghten their spirits. They will train in meditation and various breathing techniques so as to empower the flow of Ki within their body. Monks of this tradition tend to value patience, endurance, and balance.

Breathing Practices

Starting at 3rd level when you choose this tradition, you learn exercises to strengthen your breathing rhythm and your focus. You can quickly center yourself in preparation for the challenges that await. You can now hold your breath for up to 10 minutes at a time. Additionally, you can use your action to breathe deeply and regain a number of ki points equal to your proficiency modifier. Once you do so, you cannot use this feature to regain ki points again until you finish a long rest

Radiant Ki

At 6th level, your breathing has improved the flow of the Ki inside your body, forming as magical energy around you. Your unarmed strikes now deal an additional radiant damage equal to your Wisdom modifier. If your breathing is somehow impaired, you cannot summon this additional energy.

Purifying Ki

The energy which gives life to all things seems to spring forth from the flow of ki within your body. Starting at 11th level, as an action you can touch another creature and expend 3 ki points to restore a number of hit points equal to your monk level or remove one physical condition (such as poisoning).

Additionally, certain natural objects you touch seem to become energized and full of life. Plants, no matter how old and withered, will bloom and bear fruit. Waters which have been sullied by contamination or poison will become pure again. You can expend 2 ki points to cast Purify Food and Drink and 4 ki points to cast Plant Growth. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for these spells and, when cast using this feature, neither of these spells require material components.

Overdriven Spirit

At 17th level, your mastery of ki manipulation allows you to channel it more powerfully than before. You now benefit from the following effects:

  • You can hold your breath for up to 1hr at a time.
  • Your unarmed strikes deal radiant damage equal to twice your Wisdom modifier.
  • When you use Flurry of Blows, the number of unarmed strikes you make becomes three and you can make up to three more unarmed strike by expending one additional ki point for each additional attack.
