Base Class: Bard
The College of Love is the home of Bards who dedicate themselves to fine-tuning their social skills to a point as sharp as the arrows they wield. They use their music to light the spark that will eventually unite two souls and use their spells to lower their target's defenses, and in some cases, inhibitions. Most College of Love Bards are traditionally hopeless romantics who sacrifice their own lives, be it metaphorical or literal, to bring people together.
But this College isn't only capable of making love; sometimes war is the only answer. Though they prefer to use their social, musical, and magical skills to bring consenting parties together, College of Love Bards are just as adept at tearing their foes apart. Wielding bows, College of Love Bards are at their best in battle from a distance, perfectly mirroring their very hands-on, up close and personal approach to matchmaking. Favoring charms and spells that complement their ranged prowess, College of Love Bards are formidable opponents on the battlefield.

*These spells are not available in the Basic Rules, so I am unable to include them in the subclass if I wish to publish it. If you own the materials with these spells in them you can manually add them to your character via a homebrew feat so they are available. If not, you could also create a private homebrew version of the spell for personal use.
Bowstrings & Heartstrings
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with Shortbows, Longbows, and the Lyre if you are not already proficient.
Intuitive Influence
When you join the College of Love at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Insight skill.
Love Knows No Bounds
Starting at 6th level, as a bonus action on your turn, you can choose two willing creatures other than yourself within 60 feet of you who can hear you. Expend an Inspiration die, binding the two creatures together for a number of rounds equal to the result + half your proficiency modifier (rounded up). While bound the creatures gain the benefits of the Wedding rite from the Ceremony spell, ignoring the restriction that the creatures must remain within 30 feet of one another. This effect cannot stack, and only one instance of this effect can be active at any given time. A creature cannot be bonded with the same creature more than once per long rest, though they may still be bonded with another creature.
At 14th level the bonded creatures also gain the effects of the Coming of Age rite from the Ceremony spell, and the restriction that the same creatures cannot be bonded to one another more than once per long rest is lifted.
Additionally, as a bonus action, you can give yourself a flying speed of 30 feet that lasts for 10 minutes, during which you can hover. You can use this bonus action a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Language of Love
At 6th level, and again at 14th level, you gain proficiency in two languages of your choice.
Flight of Fancy
Starting at 14th level you can use a bonus action to manifest a pair of feathered nephalem wings from your back. The color of the wings corresponds to your alignment: white for good, gray for neutral, and black for evil. While the wings are manifested you have a flying speed of 30 feet. The wings last until you’re incapacitated, you die, or you dismiss them as a bonus action.
Additionally, you may now expend a use of your 6th level flight feature and grant its benefits to a willing creature within 30 feet of you, though the duration is reduced to 1 minute instead of 10 minutes for that target. Only one target can benefit from this feature at a time.

Posted Mar 19, 2021This is a completely different take on my original College of Love subclass. When I first started homebrewing I churned the original subclass out in no time, and since it was the first thing I made I didn't want it to be considered overpowered in any way. By doing so I made it very boring and VERY underpowered. A friend of mine recently stated that they wanted to play the subclass, but I didn't want them to waste their time with it, so I revamped it from the ground up and this is where I ended up. I am happy with this subclass, my only qualm being that I can't include all of the spells I wanted to due to them not being free content, but that is a small enough issue. I hope you enjoy this subclass. If you do end up playing it, I would love to hear about how it goes!
