Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the White Lotus are pacifists are heart, using empathy and understanding to battle aggression. Masters of the ki found in all things living, they harness its power to heal the wounded and protect the innocent from danger. They abstain from violence completely, for they say that to hurt another is to hurt oneself. Instead, they offer mercy and wisdom to those violent, hoping to invite peace into their hearts.
"Protect the promise of a peaceful world", that is the goal of the Order of the White Lotus.
Emissary of Peace
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to impart calmness through soft words and a gentle disposition, easing the way for peace. Whenever you make a Charisma check attempting to calm violent emotions or counsel peace, you can treat it as a Wisdom check.
You also gain proficiency in the Performance or Persuasion skill (choose one).
Serene Force
Starting at 3rd level by following your vow of non-violence, you learn to aim your Unarmed Strikes at specific pressure points, allowing you to manipulate a creature’s ki without causing it any harm.
Serene Force attacks deal no damage, but instead, offer various benefits: You use your Wisdom modifier for attack rolls, and when you hit a creature on your turn, you can use a bonus action to attempt to grapple the target. Furthermore, whenever you hit a single creature three times in one round, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw (Ki save DC). On a fail, the creature becomes more susceptible to your words and is considered charmed by you until the end of your next turn or until you or your companions do something harmful to it.
Additionally, whenever you hit a creature with Serene Force via Flurry of Blows, or spend 1 ki point on any other Serene Force that hits, you can roll your Martial Arts die and impose one of the following effects on that target (can't apply the same effect more than once per turn):
- You subtract the number rolled on your Martial Arts die from the creature's next attack roll.
- The creature regains Hit Points equal to the number rolled on your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier. No effect on undead or constructs.
- You subtract the number rolled on your Martial Arts die from the creature's spell save DC until the end of its next turn.
- You subtract the number rolled on your Martial Arts die from the creature's next ability check to resist a grapple.
- The creature can only target you with its attacks until the end of its next turn, adding the number rolled on your Martial Arts die to the damage roll of any attack that hits.
- You subtract the number rolled on your Martial Arts die x 3 from the creature's walking speed until the end of its next turn, rounding by approximation to multiples of 5.
Lotus Guardian
At 6th level, you master the use of your own body as a shield for others. After taking the Dodge action, you can impose disadvantage on any attacks made by a creature you can see against another creature that is within 5 feet of you.
Additionally, whenever an attack roll made by a creature you can see against a creature that is within 5 feet of you hits, you can use your reaction and spend 1 ki point to move to the target's space, subsequently moving it to an adjacent space of your choice and receiving the attack in its stead. If you had previously taken the Dodge action on your last turn, this ability costs no ki points. As part of the same reaction, you can also spend 2 more ki points to:
- Reduce the damage on melee attacks (including spells) by half and push the attacker 10 feet away from you, if it's no more than one size larger than you and within your melee reach.
- Use your Deflect Missile ability on ranged weapon attacks, ignoring the ki cost of the subsequent attack granted by the ability.
- Reduce the damage on ranged spell attacks by half and negate any of its secondary effects.
At 11th level, the range on both aspects of this ability increases to 10 feet.
Path of Tranquility
Beginning at 11th level, you become an island of calm in even the most chaotic of situations, surrounding yourself with an aura of peace. At the end of a short or long rest you gain the effects of the sanctuary spell (Ki save DC), which lasts until the start of your next rest
Gift of the Martyr
You master the transfer of your ki between creatures, making the ultimate sacrifice possible. Whenever a creature you can see that is within 60 feet of you fails its last death saving throw, or perishes as a result of an attack or spell, you can use your reaction and spend all your ki points to grant it your life force, thus negating its death and any secondary effects attributed to it. The creature immediately regains all its hit points, and until the end of its next turn, it gains a bonus to all attack and damage rolls, saving throws and ability checks equal to the amount of ki points spent on this ability.
As a result of the traumatic transfer of energy, you instantly die and your body becomes a dried, empty husk that slowly cracks and turns to a fine gray dust. You can be restored to life only by means of a True Resurrection or a Wish spell.
