Base Class: Fighter

A bodyguard is a type of guard, law enforcement officer, or soldier who protects a person or a group of people—usually high-ranking public officials or officers, wealthy people, and celebrities—from danger. Most important public figures, such as lords and ladies are protected by few or several bodyguards from special mercenary groups or maybe a lord`s personal security force. In most lands where the king or queen is also the military leader, the leader's bodyguards have traditionally been royal guards or other elite military units.

Protector

As part of your job, you are to protect the one (or those) that have employed your service. Starting at 3rd level, you may appoint up to your proficiency bonus targets as your POI (Person of Interest). You may change your POI target(s) after a long rest. While standing within 5 feet of the POI, you gain the following benefits.

- You can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on melee weapon attacks directed towards your POI if you are equipped with a melee weapon. If the attack misses, you can instantly move one of your POI to a non-occupied space within 5 feet of you. This does not provoke opportune attacks.

- You POI gains +1 to their AC while within 5 feet of you.

At 10th level, the AC bonus is increased to +2.

Shielding Body

Starting at 3rd level, you gain additional hit point each time you level up equal to half your Constitution modifiers (rounded down, minimum of 1). This effect does not stack with similar features or traits.

Bolstering Protection

Starting at 7th level, when you use your Second Wind  feature, you give your POI temp. hit points equal to your Constitution modifier + proficiancy bonus.

Lastly, the range of Protector is increased by 5 feet. If you choose to move one of your POI, they are moved to a non-occupied space within 10 feet of you. You can still use your reaction to impose disadvantage on melee weapon attacks directed towards your POI if you are standing 10 feet away, but you will need a weapon with the Reach property. The AC bonus also applies to POI within 10 feet of you.

Boosting Surge

Starting at 10th level, when you use your Action Surge feature, you can choose one of your POI within 30 feet that you can see to also gain the benefit of the Action Surge feature. The targeted POI must be able to see and hear you to gain this effect. POI makes their action directly after you. Once the actions of both the Bodyguard and the POI are done, the combat continues as normal.

Noble Servitude

Starting at 15th level, you are able to throw yourself between your POI and an incoming attack! While a POI are within 10 feet of you and is subjected to single-target damage, you can instantly choose to take the damage instead of the POI, after the DM declares that the POI is hit. You suffer the same damage the POI would take. If the POI is more than 5 feet from you, then you instantly move up to and in front of the POI. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks. You may only do this once per POI per turn.

Saving Grace

Starting at 18th level, you have become a true guardian angel of your POI. While the POI is within 10 feet of you, they gain the following benefits.

- The POI gains a bonus to their death saving throw equal to half of the profiancy bonus of the Bodyguard (rounded down).

- As a reaction, the POI can choose to let their bodyguard take the incoming single-target damage.

- The POI has advantage on melee and ranged attack rolls against targets that are attacking the Bodyguard.

- While the Bodyguard is alive and not knocked unconscious, the POI gains a bonus to their attack rolls equal to half of the proficancy bonus of the Bodyguard (rounded down).

The Bodyguard can as a reaction to the POI (or one of them) being knocked unconscious move up to it`s movement speed twoards the POI and pick them up (if the Bodyguard is strong enough). While carrying a POI, the Bodyguard can choose to take all single-target damage targeted at the POI.
