Base Class: Monk
You follow a monastic tradition that teaches you to harness the power of electricity. You focus your ki, transmuting it into electricity that you bend to your will, not only allowing you to unleash devastating thunderous attacks, but allowing you to enhance your physical ability.
Those who follow the Way of the Lightning Palm generally avoid wearing footwear so that they remain grounded, and they typically avoid carrying metallic objects to ensure their ki isn't conducted by the metal.
Lightning Palm
3rd-level Way of the Lightning Palm feature
You gain resistance to lightning damage. You also gain the ability to, as a bonus action, spend 1 ki point to electrically charge your fists. You determine the appearance. Your fists revert to normal if you; run out of ki points, are incapacitated, or die.
For 10 minutes, while your fists are electrically charged, you gain the following benefits:
- When you make an unarmed strike on your turn, the damage type is lightning.
- Once per turn, you may add 1d6 of lightning damage to one of your unarmed attacks.
- If a creature within 5 feet attacks you with a metallic object that they are holding, you may use your reaction to shock the creature. The creature takes 1d6 lightning damage, and must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become stunned until the end of their next turn.
Voltaic Agility
3rd-level Way of the Lightning Palm feature
Your movement speed increases by 10 feet. Additionally, as a bonus action you can spend 1 ki point to increase your movement speed by 10 feet, for 1 minute.
Ki-Empowered Discharge
6th-level Way of the Lighting Palm feature
At 6th level, You can spend 3 ki points to cast Lightning Bolt as an action, requiring no vocal or material components.
Galvanizing Aura
11th-level Way of the Lightning Palm feature
Your mastery over transmuting your ki into electricity allows you to generate an aura around yourself. As a bonus action, or as part of the action you take to activate Lightning Palm, you can spend 2 ki points to summon this aura for 10 minutes. It vanishes early if you are; out of ki points, are incapacitated, or die.
The galvanizing aura surrounds your body. You determine its appearance.
While the galvanizing aura is present, you gain the following benefits.
Lightning Reflexes. You have advantage on all Dexterity saving throws.
Electromagnetic Field. If a creature attacks you with a metal object, they have disadvantage on the attack roll.
Conductive Shock. If a creature ends their turn within 5 feet of you, they take 1d6 lightning damage.
Speed of Lightning
17th-level Way of the Lightning Palm feature
Due to your large ki pool passively converting into electricity, you can overwrite your nervous system with your electric ki, allowing you to move your contract and extend your muscles faster than normal. As an action, using 10 ki points you can activate Speed of Lightning for 1 minute. This effect ends early if you; run out of ki points, are incapacitated, or die.
During Speed of Lightning, you gain the following benefits.
Godspeed. Your movement speed is doubled. You cannot provoke Attacks of Opportunity.
Storm of Strikes. You can attack an additional two times per turn. All your unarmed attacks deal an additional 2d6 lightning damage.
Voltaic Dodge. As a reaction, if you are the target of an attack you can move up to 50 feet away instantaneously.
