Base Class: Ranger
This ranger class calls on the spiritual bond of man and beast. In the wild the spirits are everywhere, this ranger subclass allows you to perform a ritual and call forth the spirit to aid you in battle.
Mounted Combat
You may mount or dismount your Spiritual Beast using a reaction. When you do this, your HP is equal to whoever has the lowest hit points. You count as one creature when it comes to attacks and initiative. Your AC is equal to highest AC before mounting. All spells cast on the PC or Mount remain during mount, but all spells cast are lost upon dismount.
Ranger’s Spritual Beast
At 3rd level, you gain a spiritual beast companion that accompanies you on your adventures and is trained to fight alongside you, or be mounted with a free action. Choose a beast that is no larger than Medium and that has a challenge rating of 1/4 or lower. The Spiritual Beast can not wear armour, and has Hit Points equal to your own but with its own constitution modifier. You must also give the spirit a name, which is used to command it. Others who learn its name will also be able to command it, so keep it close.
When not mounted, the spirit obeys your commands as best as it can. On your turn, when not mounted you can verbally command the beast where to move (no action required by you). You can use your action to verbally command it to take the Attack, Dash, Disengage, or Help action. If you don't issue a command, the spirit takes the Dodge action.
If you are incapacitated or absent, the spirit acts on its own, focusing on protecting you and itself. The spirit never requires your command to use its reaction, such as when making an opportunity attack.
While travelling through your favoured terrain while mounted, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.
While mounted on your spiritual beast, you are considered one target with one health pool. Your health pool is equal to the lowest pool upon mounting, and when dismounting, both keep the same pool of health.
If the beast dies, you must perform the Sacred Ritual to lay the spirit to rest, and attract a new spirit.
