Base Class: Monk
Monks who follow the Way of the Chronicler have devoted their lifes to understand the the history and arcane nature of the Material Plane. As accomplished historians, they carry forward the traditions of their ancestors and cultures who no longer exist. They have learned to commune with leylines, the very arteries of magic that stretch across the world. Their deep connection with magic gives them a unique ability to use their ki in the same way a trained wizard or sorcerer uses their years of education or experience to cast spells. These monks often seek or guard horrible arcane secrets to prevent their misuse and put down the spell casters who would seek to abuse such knowledge.
Lore of the Enlightened
Beginning at 3rd level, your masters have confirmed you to be an adept historian and arcanist. You learn one language of your choice and gain proficiency in both History and Arcana. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses those proficiencies.
Spellcasting
When you reach 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the wizard spell list.
Cantrips
You learn two cantrips of your choice from the wizard spell list. You learn another wizard cantrip of your choice at 10th level.
Spell Slots
The Way of the Chronicler Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your wizard spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.
For example, if you know the 1st-level spell shield and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast shield using either slot.
Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher
You know three 1st-level wizard spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the divination and abjuration spells on the wizard spell list.
The Spells Known column of the Way of the Chronicler Spellcasting table shows when you learn more wizard spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be an divination or abjuration spell of your choice, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.
The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level can come from any school of magic.
Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be an divination or abjuration spell, unless you’re replacing the spell you gained at 3rd, 8th, 14th, or 20th level from any school of magic.
Spellcasting Ability
Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your wizard spells, since you learn your spells through dedicated study and memorization. You use your Intelligence whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wizard modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a wizard spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Mystic Recovery
When you reach 6th level, your connection to the innate magic around you allows you to regain some of your spent magical power as you rest. Once per day when you finish a short rest, you may recover a single expended spell slot of any level.
Ascendant Techniques
At 11th level, your experience with magic has enhanced your basic monk skills. Each of the following features gain the benefits listed below.
Flurry of Blows. You may choose to have your unarmed strikes deal force damage instead of their normal damage types.
Deflect Missiles. You may use your Deflect Missiles feature against ranged spell attacks that hit you. If you reduce the spell damage to 0, you can spend 1 ki point to reflect the spell to target a different creature within 30 feet. If you do, make a ranged spell attack using your spell attack modifier against that creature. On a hit, you roll the original spell's damage as intended and the new target suffers the full effects of the spell.
Step of the Wind. Instead of taking the Disengage or Dash action, you may instead teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
Arcane Flurry
At 17th level, whenever you use your action to cast a spell, you can spend 2 ki points to use your Flurry of Blows feature immediately afterwards.
