Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Known as Kuldjargh (literally “axe idiot”) in Dwarvish, battleragers are dwarf followers of the gods of war and take the Path of the Battlerager. They specialize in wearing bulky, spiked armor and throwing themselves into combat, striking with their body itself and giving themselves over to the fury of battle.  Other races and cultures have learned the arts of battleraging--some through a kinship with the dwarves, others through seeing their fury in war--and fostered the development of their own battleragers.

Battlerager Armor

When you choose this path at 3rd level, you gain the ability to use spiked armor (see the “Spiked Armor” sidebar) as a weapon.  Spikes can be added to any medium or heavy armor for a cost determined by your DM relative to the armor.  Any armor outfitted with spikes in this manner is also classified as spiked armor for purposes of the Battlerager's abilities.  The spikes on spiked armor can be enchanted with magical properties in the same manner as any weapon or armor, including to inflict magical damage.

While you are wearing spiked armor and are raging, you can use a bonus action to attempt to grapple a target within 5 feet of you, regardless of size. If successful, the target is grappled and the spikes deal 1d4 plus your Strength modifier in piercing damage.  If the target is two or more size categories larger than you, its movement is not restricted by this grapple.

Additionally, any target that starts its turn grappled by you and within 5 feet of you takes piercing damage equal to your Strength modifier (minimum of 1).

At level 10, the damage inflicted by a grapple using this ability increases to 2d4 plus your Strength modifier, and the damage a grappled target takes at the start of its turn increases to 1d4 plus your Strength modifier.

SPIKED ARMOR

Spiked armor is a rare type of medium armor made by dwarves. It consists of a leather coat and leggings covered with spikes that are usually made of metal.
Cost: 75 gp
AC: 14 + Dexterity modifier (max 2)
Stealth: Disadvantage
Weight: 45 lb.

Reckless Abandon

Beginning at 6th level, when you use Reckless Attack while raging, you also gain temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1). They vanish if any of them are left when your rage ends.

Battlerager Charge

Beginning at 10th level, if you move at least 20 feet in a straight line toward a creature no more than one size category larger than you and grapple it with your bonus action on the same turn, you can choose to tackle the creature and embed your spikes into it. Both you and the target fall prone, and the target takes 4d4 plus your Strength modifier in piercing damage, instead of the normal damage for inflicting a grapple provided by the Battlerager Armor ability.

Spiked Retribution

Starting at 14th level, when a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, the attacker takes damage equal to your Strength modifier if you are raging, aren’t incapacitated, and are wearing spiked armor.
