Base Class: Fighter
Battle dancers rely more on form and agility than on brute strength alone. Whether with fist or weapon, a dancer's strikes are as calculated and practice as their dance forms. While some can dance just as gracefully in armor, most battle dancers find it unnecessary or even burdensome.
Unarmored Defense
Beginning at 3rd level, while you are wearing no armor and not wielding a shield, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Charisma modifier.
Unarmed Attacks
At 3rd level you gain the following features:
- You can use Dexterity instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes.
- You can roll a d4 in place of the normal damage of your unarmed strike.
- When you use the Attack action with an unarmed strike or a weapon on your turn, you can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action. For example, if you take the Attack action and attack with a quarterstaff, you can also make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, assuming you haven’t already taken a bonus action this turn.
Dance of the Springing Tiger
At 3rd level you gain the following features:
- Your movement speed increases by 10.
- If you willingly move at least 10 feet and do not have disadvantage you deal an extra 1d6 damage per 10 feet of movement on your next attack. This die increases to a d8 at 10th level and to a d10 at 15th level.
- Enemies you've dealt damage to on your current turn have disadvantage on any opportunity attacks they make against you for the remainder of your turn.
Dance of the Vexing Snake
When an enemy makes a melee weapon attack against you, you can use your reaction to make either a Performance (Charisma/Dexterity) or Acrobatics (Charisma/Dexterity) in an attempt to dodge the blow. The attempt succeeds if your check is higher than your enemy's attack roll. On a success, you may move up to your movement speed without incurring opportunity attacks from the creature that originally attacked you, or you may instead make a melee attack against the creature.
Dance of the Floating Swan
At 10th level you gain the following features:
- You can move across liquid surfaces without sinking provided you begin and end your movement on a stable solid surface.
- You ignore difficult terrain.
- Your movement speed increases by 10 feet.
Dance of the Sun and Moon
Through dance, you gain the ability to convey ideas, thoughts, and feelings to creatures with an intelligence of 8 or higher.
Dance of the Noble Dragon
At 18th level, you gain the ability to leap into the air up to half your movement speed provided you have moved at least 10 feet, without expending any additional movement. You don't suffer from fall damage from doing so and any movement made from leaping can be counted towards your Springing Tiger damage.
