School of Deception

Perhaps you were in school at one time, but never really learned anything from that environment.  Instead you learned to cheat around every corner.  As a result you are unable to learn new spell through spell books.  You can learn more spells by watching other creatures cast spells.  These mages are capable of deceiving others, and detecting similar deception within others.  Some of these mages use their beguiling nature for mundane tasks, such as getting away with shoplifting.  However, some use their powers for far more sinister means, such as taking control of nations and using their charismatic abilities to rule unopposed. 

Charisma is your spell casting modifier for this subclass.

Conman

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, your abilities to con your way out of situations becomes extraordinary. You gain proficiency with the Deception, Persuasion, and insight skills, if you do not have them already.

Deceiver's Clarity

Starting at 2nd level, your ability to deceive others has grown to the extent that you can recognize the signs of it within other beings. When doing an insight check to see if someone is lying you have advantage on checks. You also gain advantage on saving throws against being charmed.

I know that spell

At 6th level, you add the Counterspell spell to your spellbook, if it is not there already. When you cast Counterspell as a reaction to a creature attacking you, if your Counterspell succeeds you may expend a 1st level spell slot to cast that same spell your opponent cast at the same level it was cast at your attacker. 

At the end of the encounter you may add the spell you cast to your spellbook if it is not there already.

I can read that

Beginning at 10th level, when attempting to learn a spell from a spell scroll of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level, you learn them guaranteed.

Different Strokes

Starting at 14th level, you gain proficiency with calligraphers supplies and forgery kits.  You also gain the ability to create spell scrolls of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd using these supplies without it costing extra gold.

Depending on the tools used the scrolls gain different additional effects.

Calligraphers Supplies:  the spell is cast at the highest level the user is capable of casting at.  

Forgery Kit:  The target has disadvantage on all saving throws for one minute after getting hit with this spell.
