Base Class: Monk

The way of the Immortal masters is a long and difficult path.  Through special meditation practices the monks of this path seek to unravel the secrets of the universe and when all their desires have been eradicated step outside the cycle of life and death itself.  These monks strive to have the foresight and wisdom to avoid conflicts before they are even apparent and many of their abilities focus on endurance and the power of mind over body.  A master of this path feels no pain, seems ageless, no longer has a need to sleep and can sustain their mortal shell off the dew of the universe. 

Immortal Shell

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, You gain resistance to one type of physical damage (Slashing, piercing, bludgeoning).  You also feel no ill effect from extreme temperatures such Arctic cold or Desert heat.

Additionally you have gleaned some insight into the cosmos and have learned to manipulate the fabric of the universe or judge a likely outcome in certain situations.

You have the ability to cast Absorb elements, or Augury once each per long rest.

Pierce the Veil

At 6th level, you gain the ability to ignore physical terrain around you.  As a bonus action each turn, you can act as if you have the spells waterwalk, and spiders climb active.  You must concentrate on this ability and make concentration checks should you take damage.  

Your mastery over your physical body also expands.  Over a long rest you may change your level 3 resistance to a different physical or elemental resistance of your choice.

Lastly, once per long rest you may cast the spells beacon of hope and dispel magic once each. 

Astral Mastery

Beginning at 11th level, you can enter a special meditation in which you can expel your basic essence or soul from your body and enter the ethereal plane.   In this form you can explore your surroundings and even visit other planes should you find a means. Your soul is tethered to your body by an endless silver cord that you can follow back to your body.  While in this astral from you have no sense of what is happening to your body or the environment around it.  Should your physical body be killed your silver cord snaps, and you are lost in the ethereal plane, doomed to an unknown fate. Having your body and soul no longer weighing each other down has several other benefits.  

  • Your body counts as resting while you are "out" in your astral from.
  • You no longer require anything but the smallest mouthful of food and water and the "dew of the Universe" to sustain your physical from
  • one more bullet point in lieu of spells....

One of the enlightened

You mastery over desire is complete but your journey is just beginning.  You no longer age, and your mortal needs died with your desires.  You have stepped outside of time and space and what you once thought of as reality is now but a shadow of your true understanding.

living as one of the enlightened is to be revered, feared and most likely misunderstood by those around you.  Your power is undeniable and your ability to perform miracle like abilities.

Becoming one of the enlightened gives you the following abilities:   You no longer need to do anything to maintain your mortal body.  You have no need for food, drink, or sleep.  in addition your physical body ceases to age.  

Additionally:  Once per long rest you gain the ability to automatically succeed on a failed save.  

Lastly:  You may cast Anti-magic field and Mind Blank once each per long rest.
