Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Love are the truly altruistic types: putting others before themselves whenever they get the chance. They do this out of the love that they have for being helpful. Many times they take this a step too far and act to their own detriment.

Regardless, only those who truly have love in their hearts can be taught to weave their magic into their passion.

Beacon of Love

At 3rd level, when you join the College of Love, you can spend 1 hour to meditate and create a bond with a creature of your choice with whom you have a favorable relationship (DM's discretion). The creature must be present and you both must hold opposite ends of a length of chain for the entire hour. This may be done during a short rest or as the last hour of a long rest provided that you both still sleep for the required amount of time.

Until the end of your next long rest, that creature receives half (rounded down) + your Bard Level of any direct, single target healing that you give to creatures other than your beacon. The target of your Beacon must be within 60ft of you to receive this effect.

The beacon is removed early if:

  • The target of your Beacon falls unconscious,
  • A [Remove Curse] spell is cast on the target of your beacon
  • You lose the favorable relationship with the target of your Beacon.

If your Beacon of Love is removed due to the loss of a favorable relationship with the target, the chain that was used to create the bond between you crumbles to dust and can not be restored by any means.

Selfless Inspiration

Starting at 6th level, when you directly heal a creature who currently has the benefit of your Bardic Inspiration, you may choose to increase the class of die they may roll for that Bardic Inspiration by one tier (to a maximum of a d20).

For example: if your Bardic Inspiration die is typically a d6 (Bard levels 1-4) and you choose to upgrade it after healing a creature that has it, the creature may instead roll a d8 when they choose to use it.

This feature may only be used once per iteration of Bardic Inspiration. You may upgrade your Bardic Inspiration in this way a number of times per day equal to your Charisma modifier.

Improved Beacon of Love

Improves your Beacon of Love feature at 14th level to include all quantifiable single target support spells.

For example, if you were to cast [Longstrider] on a creature, the target of your Beacon of Love would gain 5 + your Bard Level additional feet of movement for 1 hour.

Similarly, if you use your College of Love ability to cast [Armor of Agathys] on yourself, the target of your Beacon of Love would gain half + your Bard Level the amount of temporary hit points, and would also deal half + your Bard Level the amount of damage to the attacking creature when hit.

Work with your DM to determine which spells this applies to.
