Druid
Base Class: Druid

Embodiments of the greatest powers natures can produce - the great tornado, the thunderous storm, the raging wildfire. You appraise and draw your power from the mighty Phoenix, Roc, and Thunderbird, and in turn have sworn to protect them.

Bonus Cantrip

When you choose this circle at 2nd level, you learn one additional druid cantrip of your choice.

Keeper of the Great Birds

Starting at 2nd level, your bond with the great birds of old gives you some influence with the lesser birds of the world. You can speak, read and write Auran, and birds can understand the meaning of your words. You have advantage on all Charisma checks you make to influence them.

Circle Spells

Your deepened connection to the great birds of old grants you access to certain spells. At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to circle spells connected to the great bird that you choose to emulate. Choose that bird - phoenix, roc, or thunderbird - and consult the associated list of spells.

Once you gain access to a circle spell, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you. When you finish a long rest, you can choose a different bird, losing access to the spells from the original list and gaining access to the spells from the new list.

Guardian of Air

The great birds grant you some measure of power. Starting at 6th level, you ignore the level requirements for Wild Shaping into a creature with a flying speed. In addition, whenever you use your Wild Shape to transform into a bird or a creature with a flying speed, you can choose one of the three great birds of old to emulate. You also gain benefits depending on which great bird you choose.

  • Phoenix. Whenever a creature hits you with a melee attack, it takes fire damage equal to your Wisdom modifier.
  • Roc. You are considered one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift, and you have advantage on Shove attacks and Grapple checks.
  • Thunderbird. You can take the Dash action as a bonus action, and when you do, opportunity attacks against you have disadvantage until the end of your turn.

These benefits last until you leave that Wild Shape form.

Winged Protection

Starting at 10th level, the great birds protect you from harm. Whenever you use your Guardian of the Air feature, you also gain resistance to a damage type associated with the great bird you choose:

  • Phoenix. Fire.
  • Roc. Cold.
  • Thunderbird. Lightning.

This benefit lasts until you take a short or long rest, or until you use Guardian of the Air and choose a different great bird.

Sovereign of the Skies

At 14th level, your Guardian of the Air feature improves, and the great birds grant you the full extent of their elemental power. When you choose a great bird through your Guardian of the Air feature, you gain additional benefits depending on which great bird you choose. These can only be used while you are in your Wild Shape form and affected by your Guardian of the Air feature.

  • Phoenix. When your Wild Shape form’s hit points are reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to draw on the phoenix’s might. Your Wild Shape form regains half of its maximum hit points, and each creature within 10 feet of you takes fire damage equal to your Druid level + your Wisdom modifier. Any excess damage that would have carried over to your normal form instead carries over to your Wild Shape form’s new hit points. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
  • Roc. On each of your turns as an action, you can beat your wings, creating a blast of wind that knocks attackers back. Each creature of your size or smaller within a 5-foot cone must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be pushed 5 feet and knocked prone. The size of the cone and the distance a creature is pushed on a failed save both increase by 5 feet for each size you are larger than Small. You cannot use this action if you are Tiny.
  • Thunderbird. You radiate an aura of varying electricity out to 30 feet that you can manipulate, changing the amount of electricity flowing through the air around you. When a creature within your aura takes lightning damage, you can use your reaction to either grant that creature resistance or vulnerability to the damage. This feature can only target one creature at a time.
