Base Class: Cleric
The moon is, in and of itself, a celestial figure worthy of worship; however, your deity - known as "the Night Wanderer, goddess of dreams, illusions, and night" - holds this cosmic globe in her palms and imparts unto you its magic, secrets, and gifts. Clerics who find themselves in her service are tasked with mirroring the aspects of the moon: being a light when all else is enshrouded in darkness, bringing rest the the weary, embracing the chaotic but constant cycles of life, and holding sacred those ancient rituals which may only take place under such a heavenly glow (while still enjoying the impish joy of mischief-making under the cover of blessed darkness).
Lunar Embrace
At 1st level, you learn the Dancing Lights. You are also granted darkvision (if your race does not already have it) and gain proficiency with martial weapons and heavy armor.
Channel Divinity: Twilight Bow
Starting at 2nd level, you can extend your holy symbol heavenward to call down the power of the moon, unleashing a celestial arrow from above. As an action, you make a ranged attack against a target within 60 feet. On a success, the target is hit with a moonlit arrow for 2d10 radiant damage. If using this Channel Divinity at night, this arrow deals an extra amount of radiant damage equal to the damaged rolled multiplied by your proficiency bonus. Undead and shapeshifters who have been hit with this arrow have disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws until the end of your next turn.
Channel Divinity: Wax and Wane
Starting at 6th level, you may invoke the name of your deity to use Channel Divinity to grant lunar inspiration or opposition to friends or foes. When an ally within 30 feet of you makes an attack roll, you can use your reaction ("WAX") to grant them a +5 bonus plus your proficiency modifier to the roll. You can make this choice after you see the roll of your ally, but before the DM says whether the attack hits or misses.
Alternately, when a creature within 30 feet of you makes an attack roll against one of your allies, you can use your reaction ("WANE") to impose a -5 plus your proficiency modifier to the roll.
Nocturnal Rituals
At 6th level, you can cast ritual spells from your cleric's spell list in half the time and without the need of components when a moon is full. Additionally, if any moon is visible in the night's sky, you gain temporary access to the Scrying spell, though you will still need the necessary components to cast this spell.
Maximized Umbra
At 6th level, you gain the ability to maximize the effectiveness of your party with the aid of night's greatest celestial bodies. When you or a creature you can see within 30 ft. rolls an unnatural 20 on an attack, you can use your reaction to turn that hit into a critical hit. Any effects triggered by a critical hit are utilized.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Acolytus of the Moon
At 17th level, you become the champion of the night; a ceaseless hunter of those that seek to carry out evil deeds under the cover of darkness. You gain the following benefits:
- You gain resistance to radiant damage and damage dealt by silvered weapons.
- You cannot be raised as undead in the event of your passing.
- You no longer need to sleep, and you can't be forced to sleep by any means. To gain the benefits of a long rest, you can spend 8 hours doing light activity such as reading or meditating.
- When casting spells that restore the dead to true life (such as Revivify), you can half the value of the necessary components if performing the ritual under moonlight.
