Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Violence is for those who seek to become pain incarnate.

TENETS OF VIOLENCE

The tenets of the Oath of Violence exemplify unrelenting aggression and rage. Paladins who adhere to the wisdoms of this oath are servants of war and atrocity.

Sadism is Serenity. Take pleasure in delivering pain to others. Revel in it with all your soul.

Savagery is Strength. Pain is simply weakness leaving the body. See it as a blessing, and see blood and death as a reward.

Invoke Pain through Terror. Inflicting pain of mind is just as excruciating as inflicting pain of body.

Settle scores by Combat. Resolve all your disputes by meeting in battle.

Flood the world with Fury. It is unwise to keep your anger tempered. Unleash it overflowingly.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd Level, you gain the following Channel Divinity options:

Eviscerating Smite.  As an Action, you can use this Channel Divinity to gain the following effects for 1 minute:

  • You cannot cast spells and you cannot use "Lay on Hands" to either heal or remove poison and disease.
  • Your weapon attacks score a Critical Hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
  • Whenever you hit with a Divine Smite, you deal an additional amount of d8 dice in radiant damage equal to the level of the spell slot expended for the Divine Smite, to a maximum of 5d8. For instance, if you hit with a weapon attack and declare a Divine Smite at 3rd level, you deal an additional 3d8 radiant damage with that attack.

Reckless Aura.  As an Action, you can use this Channel Divinity to gain the following effects for 1 minute:

  • You cannot cast spells and you cannot use "Lay on Hands" to either heal or remove poison and disease.
  • Once per turn, if you suffer a Critical Hit, you can turn that hit into a normal hit.
  • You gain an amount of temporary Hit Points equal to the current max Hit Point amount for your "Lay on Hands" feature, which lasts for the duration. If you take the Attack Action while having temporary Hit Points, you can choose to make your attack rolls with advantage. However, all attack rolls against you have advantage until the start of your next turn.

Violent Oath

At 3rd Level, In place of learning oath spells, you gain this feature:

Violent Oath. You can use a Bonus Action to expend a spell slot and gain one or more of the following benefits for 10 minutes, maintaining concentration on the effects as it were a spell. The benefits you gain when using this feature are dependent on both your Paladin Level and the spell level of the expended spell slot. For instance, if you are a 9th Level Paladin and you expend a 3rd level spell slot for this feature, you gain the Sadism, Savagery and Terror benefits for 10 minutes or until you lose concentration.

You gain access to the following benefits at the following Paladin Levels, each benefit being based on one the tenets of this oath:

PALADIN LEVEL REQUIRED Benefit and spell level required

3rd

Sadism (1st Level spell slot or higher). Once per turn, when you hit with a weapon attack, you gain an amount of temporary Hit Points equal to 1d10 + your current temporary Hit Point amount.

5th

Savagery (2nd Level spell slot or higher). Once per turn, if you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you become resistant to all damage you take from that creature until the end of your next turn.

9th

Terror (3rd Level spell slot or higher). Once per turn, if you hit a creature with a weapon attack, that creature must make and succeed a Wisdom saving throw or else it becomes frightened of you until the end of your next turn. If it is already frightened of you when failing this saving throw, it also becomes paralyzed until the end of your next turn or until it takes damage.

13th

Combat (4th Level spell slot or higher). Once per turn, if you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you deal an additional 2d8 radiant damage. Additionally, that creature is either knocked prone or shoved up to 15 ft. away from you.

17th

Fury (5th Level spell slot or higher). Once per turn, if you hit with a weapon attack and declare a Divine Smite, the radiant damage dealt for that weapon attack is maximized.

Aura of Bloodlust

At 7th level, The wounds you seek to inflict, through sheer force of will and desire, become manifest. The reach of all your melee weapon attacks magically expand by 30 ft. At 18th Paladin level, the reach of all your melee weapon attacks magically expand by 60 ft., instead of 30 ft.

Additionally, you are treated as though your are within 5 ft. of a creature whenever hitting it with a melee weapon attack.

Impassioned Fury

At 15th Level, Whenever you expend a spell slot to use your "Violent Oath" feature, you can make one weapon attack as part of the same action. On a hit, you declare a Divine Smite using the expended spell slot. For instance, if you expend a 3rd level spell slot for "Violent Oath", the additional weapon attack you make through this feature deals an additional 4d8 radiant damage on a hit, as it is treated as though you also expended that 3rd level spell slot for a Divine Smite.

Additionally, while you are maintaining concentration on "Violent Oath", you gain the following benefits:

  • You can make one weapon attack as a Bonus Action on your turns.
  • You make concentration checks with advantage.

Hand of Agony

At 20th level, You can assume the form of a terrifying harbinger of pain. Using your Action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You can attack three times, instead of twice, whenever you take the Attack Action on your turn.
  • The reach of all your melee weapon attacks magically expand by 120 ft. instead of 60 ft.
  • While you are maintaining concentration on "Violent Oath", you succeed all concetration checks you make.
  • All radiant damage dice you roll for your weapon attack damage rolls increase to become d12 radiant damage dice. For instance, if you deliver a Divine Smite at 1st Level, you deal an additional 2d12 radiant damage, instead of 2d8.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
