TENETS OF THE FALLEN

All who take this oath must embody these tenets as a reminder of what they have become to fulfill their purpose.

Bury the Dead. All life must return to the land and therefore deserve a proper burial.

Token of Death. Leave a token such as the symbol of your deity or a personal token upon any you slay.

Honor the Dead. Pay your respects to the dead by visiting cemeteries, graveyards, and even unmarked graves on your travels whenever possible.

Oath Spells

3rd-level Oath of the Fallen Feature

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Glory Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Paladin Level Spells
3rd hex, inflict wounds
5th darkness, gentle repose
9th speak with dead, vampiric touch
13th blight, dimension door
17th antilife shell, hallow

Channel Divinity

3rd-level Oath of the Fallen feature

You gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Fear of Death

As a bonus action, you can use your Channel Divinity to imbue your enemies with the fear of death. All creatures you choose within a 20ft radius that you can see and can see you make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, they take 2d8 necrotic damage or half on a successful save. This does not affect creatures immune to the frightened condition.

Rise Again

As a reaction, you can use your Channel Divinity to stand once more in battle. When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead.

Oathbound Weapon

3rd-level Oath of the Fallen feature

Upon taking this oath, you can choose one weapon to swear your oath to. You form a magical bond between yourself and one weapon. You spend 1 hour repeating your sworn oath, which can be done during a short rest. The weapon must be held in your hands while repeating your oath until the conclusion.

Once you have bonded a weapon to yourself, you can’t be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated. If it is on the same plane of existence, you can summon that weapon as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand.

You can have up to one bonded weapon. If you attempt to bond with a second weapon, you must break the bond with the other one.

Deathly Essence

7th-level Oath of the Fallen feature

You give off the sensation of living death. You are treated as Undead and Undead creatures will not actively attack you. If you attack an Undead they will consider you hostile and the effects of Deathly Essence will end. The effects will return after a short rest.

Negative Influence

15th-level Oath of the Fallen feature

You imbue your strikes with your undying spirit. Any spells or abilities that would deal radiant instead deal necrotic damage and vice versa and ignore resistance.

Walking Death

20th-level Oath of the Fallen feature

You embody the very essence of life and death. You can use an action to activate the following abilities for 10 minutes.

  • Creatures within 5ft of you suffer 2d10 radiant or necrotic damage (your choice) at the beginning of each of their turns while within range or upon entering your range. This effect ends if you are incapacitated or unconscious.
  • You are immune to effects that would kill you outright (ex: Power Word Kill, Disintegrate, Shadow's Strength Reduction, Max HP Reduction) until the duration ends. If nothing is done to fix damaging effects, such as a greater restoration spell, these effects will work once the duration ends and kill you outright.
  • Once per turn, you can maximize the damage of any spells that deal radiant or necrotic damage.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
