Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

When barbarians follow the Path of the Soul, they find the peace to separate their soul and their body, allowing them to traverse the physical plane with greater ease. However, their tangible bodies are still at risk, so they must be able to protect themselves. Powerful souls are even able to leave behind a fraction of their power in their tangible bodies.

Soul Release

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can choose to release your soul when you enter your rage.

When you do so, you leave your body behind, choosing instead to fight in your semi-tangible Soul form. While a Soul, you gain resistance to Fire, Thunder, Lightning and Cold damage, in addition to the normal resistances you gain while raging. In your Soul form, you wield spiritual weapons that looks and behaves exactly like your real weapon(s), you can only benefit from Unarmored Defense to determine AC. You also take no fall damage and descend at a rate of 60ft per round. Unfortunately, as you are not fully tangible, you cannot interact with objects nor use items and you do not benefit from your rage damage bonus. Spells that target your Soul treat you as Undead, spells that target your body treat you as normal.

While a Soul, your body is still vulnerable. If your body is damaged, you take full damage from the attack, ignoring resistances. Your body has the same AC it would normally have and is treated as Unconscious, but does not need to make Death Saving throws. Your body must be treated with special oils and other treatments each day if your Soul remains separate from it. If your body deteriorates or dies while you are in your Soul form, you die instantly.

When your rage ends or you are knocked unconscious, you are flung back into your body.

Knight Soul

After the 3rd level, you can possess a suit of armor, gaining benefits from it and prolonging your form.

As a bonus action, while in Soul form, you can place your Soul into a set of nearby armor. While in the armor, you gain increased tangibility, enabling you to interact with physical objects and also regaining the Rage damage bonus. Additionally, while in the set of armor, your rage is prolonged indefinitely. You gain a bonus based on the type of armor you possess.  Possessing armor does not count as wearing armor. You benefit from any enchantments placed on the armor.

Light - +5 Movement Speed, +1 to all saving throws.
Medium - +1 AC
Heavy - +2 AC, Disadvantage on Stealth Checks

If you leave the suit of armor after the time your rage would have ended, your rage ends immediately.

Soul Strike

Beginning at 6th level, when you attack a creature, you can imbue the strike with a portion of your soul.

When you make an attack, before rolling the attack, you can choose to imbue it, adding bonus psychic damage equal to 1d8. You can use this feature an amount of times equal to your Constitution Modifier, regaining all uses at the end of a short or long rest.

The damage increases to 2d8 at level 10, 3d8 at level 14, and 4d8 at level 18.

Soul Net

Beginning at 10th level, you can use your action to reach out and grasp another creature's soul, paralyzing its body.

A target creature within 30ft must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + Proficiency Bonus + Charisma Modifier) or be paralyzed for 1 minute. At the end of each of its turns, the target can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the ability ends on the target.

If the creature succeeds on its saving throw, you can’t use this feature on that creature again for 24 hours.

Body and Soul in Tandem

Starting at 14th level, when you enter your rage and release your Soul, you leave behind a small portion of your Soul to control your body.

As a bonus action, you can use one rage to cause your body to rise and fight alongside you for 1 minute. Your body has all your physical stats as normal, however, its Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma are all reduced to 5. You still take damage when your body is damaged as normal, your body does not have separate health to you. Your body acts on its own initiative but you control it. Your body cannot speak or understand any language and does not benefit from rage, it also must have access to its own weapon in order to use one.
