Base Class: Sorcerer
Sometimes, people get sad, this is part of living. But certain things in a life can drown a soul in sadness. You have gone through a MAJOR ordeal, but you didn't rise from it. Maybe your family was killed, your village was destroyed, or you were betrayed by the one closest to you. Whatever caused you powers to activate, you are now extremely sad and depressed, and you are still working on recovering. Characters with the subclass are not happy, and the only way for them to be happy would be for a major event to occur, like the resurrection of dead family, acceptance of people they lost, apologizing to people that has died, or something like that.
Sometimes, people get excited, this is part of living. But certain things in life can immerse a soul in happiness. In your life, you have really only gone up, you haven't fallen without someone to pick you back up. Your power was awoken when someone you loved told you that they loved you back, or one of your friends/family completed something great. Your powers could have activated when you were young and happy. However your powers were activated, you are a very cheery and optimistic person. You always find a way to look on the brightside. To feel any emotion that isn't tinged with happiness, you would have to be torn down utterly and completely, or enter such a rage that no one can stop you.
Sometimes, people get mad, this is part of living. But certain things can light a soul in the fire of rage. Something terrible happened to you, but instead of falling or rising from the ashes, you got stuck in the middle. You let you rage carry your magic into battle. Your village could've been attacked, someone betrayed you, or something you loved was destroyed. Inside of you, your magic ignited. You always let your fists do the talking, and anyone who wrongs you will soon learn that they should've stayed just stayed home. Killing people gives you no permanent happiness, but it does make you happier in the moment. The only way for this to change is if you finally take down the cause of your anger, or you gain sympathy for those you kill, and it drowns you.
Sometimes, people become afraid, this is part of living. But certain events can cause a tremendous fear to be seated within you. Too many close calls activated this emotion, perhaps you almost got killed multiple different ways a lot of times, and now fear everything. The only way to change this is by having someone teach you the true meaning of courage, and pushing you out of your comfort zone. You are a perpetuel coward, and you stay at the back of the fight, trying not to get hit.
Whatever emotion started your magic, it has only gotten stronger. You NEVER calm down, come down to earth, or rise from the ashes, and no one can tell you to. Only the most powerful emotion borne can channel all those emotions at once, and only for short periods. A lot of these types of people don't gain control of their emotions, and instead live a life or pain and torture trying to control their emotions, only for them to break the person's mind.
Emotional Aura.
Because of something in your life, you radiate an aura of emotion. Choose from Despair, Joy, or Rage. Your choice effects you emotional state at all times. Each choice also inspires that same emotion albeit diluted, and projects a visible aura that increase in color that more you feel a that emotion. You can change this over a long rest, but only after a very emotional climax, determined by the DM.
Despair: You radiate an ocean blue aura, and everyone around you feels depressed and hopeless. All hostile creatures within 30ft of you feel tired and uninspired, slowing even their sense of self-preservation, and have disadvantage on all saving throws and attack rolls.
Joy: You radiate a sunlight aura, and everyone near you feels inspired and hopeful. All your allies within 30ft of you feel happy and re-energized, and have advantage on saving throughs, and they gain a number of temp hp equal to half your level rounded up each turn..
Rage: You radiate a crimson aura, and everyone near you is filled with insatiable bloodlust. All of your allies within 30ft of you strike harder with every blow, and they gain a +1 to every damage dice rolled. The extra damage will be the same as the damage dice it is adding on to.
Fear: You radiate an obsidian black aura and everyone around you is filled with an unnatural fear. Whenever you or another ally gets hit by an attack, they gain an extra 10ft to their movement speed until the end of their next turn.
Primal Overload
At 6th level, your emotions have gotten so powerful that they have started to permanently affect you. Before, you had the ability to resist and reign in your emotions occasionally, but no longer. You are torrent of realism, a ray of optimism, or a wildfire of rage! Your physical appearance is now also affected by you emotions. You may be surrounded by a perpetual rainstorm, your skin glows with light, or your body is lit by spectral flames. These effects cannot be put out, but have no mechanical benefit. Additionally, your the only way to relieve your mind of all the emotional strain is through something called a Primal Overload. Briefly, as an action, you send all you emotional energy onto someone else. Unlike you, their mind most likely cannot hold that strain. The target must be within 30ft of you. They must succeed on a WIS save against your spell save DC or be stunned for a number of turns equal to your proficiency bonus. If they succeed, they gain the effect of the aura you were using for the same number of turns, and you lose the benefits of this subclass for that same amount of time. You can use this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regains all expended uses over a long rest. You cannot use this while you do not have access to you auras.
Overflowing Feelings
At 14th level, your emotional energy can barely be contained. You can just barely be seen through your aura in battle, and that cosmetic changes from level 6 have become very pronounced. In addition, creatures around you also gained an enhanced range of emotions. You have also gained the ability to project your emotions is waves. The damage is changed by the emotion you are feeling right now, as well as the effect. You can use this ability as an action, and you can do it once per long rest. The waves affect every creature of your choice within 30ft of you, and the creatures must make WIS saves. If they succeed, they take half damage.
Despair: Icy bolts of blue energy fly from you. They strike the targets, and those targets take 5d10 cold damage, and if they failed the save, they become incapacitated for 1 minute.
Joy: Radiant beams of yellow light explode from you. The chosen targets take 5d10 radiant damage and 3 allies of your choice regain 5d10 hp.
Rage: Flaming Bolts of explosive force burn through the air. The chosen targets take 6d10 fire damage, and all creatures within 5ft of them take 1d10 fire damage.
Fear: Obsidian Shards of unstable energy hurtle from you. The chosen targets take 5d10 necrotic damage, and they are frightened if they fail the save.
Emotional Equilibrium
At 18th level, your emotions have become too much for you to take. However, you have also learned how to balance your warring emotions. As an action, you can enter a state in which you achieve true calm. Everything clicks, and all your emotions cancel each other out. You gain the benefits of all three auras for one minute, and you gain immunity to psychic damage. If you use Primal Overload or Overflowing Feelings, the durations of PO is doubled, and the you take all the damage from OF and add them together, as well as the effects. Primal Overload also cannot give away your aura abilities during this state. After using Primal Overload or Overflowing Feelings, you must succeed a WIS save against your spell save DC or have the power of Emotional Equilibrium end in a massive psychic explosion dealing 10d10 psychic damage to every creature within 30ft of you. You can only use this once per long rest.
