Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Fey Tricksters are roguish types who are touched by the fey, and find an affinity for the magic and creatures that dwell in the feywilds. These individuals learn their trickery from pixies and fairies who visit them, and sometimes learn the twisted ways of the darker creatures that offer their friendship. These creatures offer gifts in return for friendship, in the form of fey magic and ancient knowledge. These gifts are meant to amaze and delight their recipient, but also twist and warp their sensibilities to a mor fey way of thinking.

Otherworldly Friends

3rd-level Fey Trickster feature

Mysterious creatures of the feywild appear to you offering gifts and knowledge. You know the Friend of Nature gift and two other gifts of your choice, which are detailed in the “Gifts of the Fey” section below. You learn one additional gift of your choice at 9th, 13th, and 17th level.

Whenever you learn a new gift, you can also replace one gift that you already know with a different one.

Casting Fey Spells. Some gifts allow you to cast spells. Your spellcasting ability for these spells is Wisdom. See the Spellcasting section for the general rules of spellcasting. To cast one of these spells, you use its casting time and other rules, but you don’t need to provide material components for it.

You can spend additional uses of this feature to increase the level of an gifts of the fey spell that you cast, provided that the spell has an enhanced effect at a higher level. The spell’s level increases by 1 for each additional use of this feature that you spend.

Saving Throws. Some of your gifts require your target to make a saving throw to resist it’s effects. The saving throw DC is calculated as follows:

Gift save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.

This feature has three uses, which you can expend to activate your Gifts of the Fey. You gain one additional use at 9th, 13th and 17th level. You regain expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Otherworldly Friends (Improvement)

17th-level Fey Trickster feature

You learn one additional Gift of the Fey, and can also replace one gift that you already know with a different one.

Gifts of the Fey

The gifts are presented in alphabetical order. If a gift requires a level, you must be that level in this class to learn the gift.

Beguiling Words

You gain the power to manipulate the minds of others, forcing them to become your friend. As an action, you can expend three uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature and attempt to influence up to 8 creatures with your words. Each target that can hear you, and understands the language you are speaking must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by you for 1 hour. A charmed creature acts in a somewhat childlike manner while around you, and treats you like an older friend or sibling. If you speak in a language granted by your Sylvan Tongue feature, each target makes its saving throw with disadvantage.

If you or any of your companions damage a creature while it is charmed by this effect, the effect ends for that creature. When the effect ends for a creature, it knows it was charmed, but does not necessarily know the source. (17th level required)

Blinding Light

You gain the ability to slowly absorb light, which you can unleash to create a startling flash of energy. As an action, you can expend two uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to force each other creature in a 20-foot-radius around you to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save a creature becomes blinded until the end of your next turn. You then begin to absorb light in the area around you, creating a 20-foot-radius sphere of darkness that moves with you until the end of your next turn.

Boggling Stride

You are able to step behind an object and instantly reappear from behind another. As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Otherworldly Friends feature to teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space. Both the space you leave and your destination must be a space which is at least partially obscured from the line of sight of all other creatures, such as a by tree or door way. The destination need not be in your line of sight. (9th Level Required)

Faerie Lights

You can expend one use of your Otherworldly Friends feature to cast faerie fire.

Footsteps of the Pixie

You are able to shrink down to the size of tiny fey creature. As an action, you can expend two uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to decrease your size category to tiny for 10 minutes or until your concentration ends (as if you were concentrating on a spell). For the duration of the effect, all other creatures have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks to perceive you and disadvantage on attack rolls against you. Anything the you are wearing or carrying is shrunk along with you, as long as its weight doesn’t exceed what you can carry. (9th Level Required)

Friend of Nature

Beasts and fey creatures are able to sense the gifts you have been granted, soothing them while they are in you presence. You can expend one use of your Otherworldly Friends feature to cast animal friendship. When you use this version of animal friendship, you can also affect any creature that speaks a language granted by your Sylvan Tongue feature and has an Intelligence of 10 or lower.

Fury of the Feywild

You are able to harness the chaotic energy of the many creatures that inhabit the Feywild. As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Otherworldly Friends feature to give yourself a +1 bonus to all weapon attack and damage rolls you make for 1 minute.

Guise of the Foul

You can change your form at will in order to make yourself appear unassuming, incredibly beautiful, or more trustworthy. As an action, you can expend two uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to change your appearance to that of a medium or small humanoid for 1 hour. You decide what you look like, including your height, weight, facial features, sound of your voice, hair length, coloration, and distinguishing characteristics, if any. You can make yourself appear as a member of another race, though none of your statistics change. Any equipment you are wearing or carrying isn't transformed. At any time for the duration of the effect, you can use your action to change your appearance in this way again or to dismiss the effect. (17th Level Required)

Mesmerize

You can expend one use of your Otherworldly Friends feature to cast hypnotic pattern. (9th Level Required)

Mystic Venom

You weapons are imbued with a subtle venom, which you can activate at any time to empower your strikes. When you deal damage to a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one use of your Otherworldly Friends feature to force the creature to make a constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 hour. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the creature also falls unconscious for the duration, until it takes damage or until another creature takes an action to shake it awake. (13th Level Required)

Shimmer

You can expend one use of your Otherworldly Friends feature to cast mirror image.

Siren Scream

You can expend two uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to cast shatter.

Sly Strike

You learn the cunning ways of the Fey, allowing you to deal extra damage with your Sneak Attacks. When you deal your Sneak Attack damage to a creature, you can expend two uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to deal an extra 5d6 damage. This extra damage counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. You can only apply this damage bonus once per round. (13th Level Required)

Twist of Fate

Your affinity for creatures of the fey has caused you fate to become intertwined with theirs. Whenever you make an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw, you can expend two uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to reroll the die and must use the new roll. You can choose to use this ability after you roll the die, but before the outcome is determined.

Unruly Court

You form a close bond with your fey friends, and are able to summon them to you side. As an action, you can expend three uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to summon a number of fey creatures with a combined challenge rating of 5 or lower. Each creature appears in an unoccupied space that you can see within range. A fey creature disappears after 1 hour, when it drops to 0 hit points, or when your concentration ends (as if you were concentrating on a spell).

The summoned creatures are friendly to you and your companions. Roll initiative for the summoned creatures as a group, which have their own turns. They obey any verbal commands that you issue to them (no action required by you). If you don't issue any commands to them, they defend themselves from hostile creatures, but otherwise take no actions. (17th Level Required)

Wings of the Fairy

You can manifest a pair of translucent, bug-like wings that allow you to flit through your surroundings. As a bonus action, you can expend two uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to gain a flying speed of 40 feet for 10 minutes. You cannot hold yourself aloft for extended durations, and will float to the ground at the end of your turn if nothing prevents it. (13th Level Required)

Withering Mists

You can expend three uses of your Otherworldly Friends feature to cast cloudkill. (13th Level Required)
