Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The half-elf guides their party into a room that is seemingly empty. The hairs stand up on their arms, and they feel a deep humming start to reverberate in their body, and they smile, knowing they are not alone. Extending a hand, the half-elf creates a pulse of pure sound that rockets through the room, shattering a group of barrels in the corner, revealing a group of assassins for their party to defeat.

The Soulstrung feels the hum of magic course through their veins. They can hear and feel the reverberations of everything, both magical and otherwise, thrumming around and in them, and channel that connection into their capabilities. Magic is an art form; it is a melody, and the Soulstrung, more than most, deeply connect with and feel the music of magic.

Acoustic Spells

1st-level Soulstrung feature

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Acoustic Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be a divination or an Evocation spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list.

Attuned Senses

1st-level Soulstrung feature

You can reach out and sense the humming presence of those around you. You gain a blindsight of 15 feet, and a benefit to your hearing. Within that range, you can effectively see and hear anything that isn’t behind total cover, even if you’re blinded or in darkness, and/or deafened. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature within that range, unless the creature successfully hides from you.

Auditory Manipulation

6th-level Soulstrung feature

Whenever you cast any spell, it requires no verbal components.

Moreover, whenever you see a creature within 30 feet of you cast a spell that requires verbal components, or use a feature that relies on vocals, you can use your reaction to force that creature to make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. If the creature fails, they are unable to cast the spell or use the feature. If the action has a limited resource, such as a spell slot, a number of uses per day, or a recharge, that use is still used up, even if the creature fails the saving throw.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses after finishing a long rest.

Strung Connections

14th-level Soulstrung Feature

You are aware of any divination magic that occurs within 30 feet of you. If it is a spell being cast in the area, you know exactly where in the area it is. If it is a spell or effect that creates a spot of magic through with to observe in that area, you know where the spell or effect is originating from, as long as it is on the same plane of existence of you. You do not know the identity of the caster of that spell or effect.

Reverberating Wards

14th-level Soulstrung feature

You can weave vibrations of magic to provide protection. As a bonus action, you can expend one or more sorcery points to create a magical protection to a creature of your choice within 30 feet for 10 minutes. The creature gains temporary hit points equal to 5 times the sorcery points spent. Whenever a creature is dealt damage, one of the following things happens.

  • If the creature is dealt attack damage, ranged or melee, the attacker immediately takes twice that much in thunder damage as the shield reverberates the attack back at them.
  • If the creature is dealt damage by an effect that is determined by a saving throw, that creature takes half the damage, rounded down.

If you use bonus actions on multiple turns to provide these temporary hit points to specific creature more than once, those temporary hit points stack, instead of replacing the current ones.

Sonic Distortion

18th-level Soulstrung feature

You can unleash your control over the vibrations of magic that manifests as a sonic anomaly. As an action, you can create a 30 foot spherical aura of distorted acoustics, centered on yourself. This effect lasts for 1 minutes. The following effects occur.

  • Any scrying or divination magic in the area immediately ends unless you decide it does not.
  • Any creatures other than you in the area are deafened and muted, and unable to cast spells that require verbal components. When you create this aura, you can choose a number of creatures up to your proficiency bonus to not be affected by this aura.
  • No thunder or force damage can occur within the aura, unless you allow it to. If you allow the damage to be dealt, it deals double damage.

Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you use 6 sorcery points to use it again.
