Base Class: Rogue
The Redblade Assassins have trained in the sickle and have unlocked the power of the blood moon. If you plan of picking up this archetype you must first decide why you trained and how, was your father a Redblade Assassin or did you train under the supervision of a mentor. Redblade Assassins usually wear clothes that are red and have a order that they belong to, like a clan, tribe or military unit. When you create a Redblade Assassin you must decide what order you belong to, in Theros the group might be worshiping a god, in Ravnica you might be part of a group protecting the Guildpact.
Reflavoring this Subclass
If you want to you can reflavor this subclass to fit you character better.
Shadows:
You can reflavor this subclass to fit the theme of shadows. If you wanted to do this I recommend you reflavor the stealth step feature to look like you being enveloped in shadows and appearing somewhere else. You could also chose the 5th option for the spin slash customization ideas.
Blood magic:
If you want to multiclass into a blood hunter or just want have blood magic you might want to reflavor this subclass to use blood magic. You could make it so the spin slash can do more damage but sacrifices your HP. You can also choose options 6 or 1 for the spin slash customization ideas.
Origin
When a blood moon arises many will be frightened but not all have a fear for the blood moon, Redblade Assassins are a mysterious order that many fear due to them borrowing power from the blood moon(I would strongly suggest talking to your DM about how people would react knowing you are a Redblade Assassin). The first Redblade Assassin was Tox Nagren, a werewolf that wanted to cure himself of lycanthropy. After many years of study he found a cure, but it also showed him forbidden powers, interested he tested out these powers and took a liking to them, these were the powers that all Redblade Assassins use to this date.
Assassins in Red
All Redblade Assassins wear red, it is a part of their tradition, but if you think this stops them from being stealthy you are sorely mistaken. Redblade Assassins have the ability to harness the power of the blood moon to increase their stealth, and to make matters even worse for the enemy of a Redblade Assassin they are a force to be reckoned with in combat being able to land deadly strikes before their enemy would even know what happen. When describing a Redblade Assassins attacks make their movements quick and agile, but also make sure that they have heavy hitting blows. Describing stealth is a bit harder, but you could have your character be cloaked in some sort of veil that makes them partially invisible.
Sickle Training
At 3rd level you gain proficiency with the sickle and it has the finesse and thrown properties with you.
You gain two sickles as replacements for your daggers.
Spin Slash
At 3rd level as an action you can jump up in the air and slash enemies within 5ft of you which does 1d8 slashing damage.
You can only perform this move two sickles and you have 10 uses of it.
You can flavor this spin slash to look like anything you want. Here are some ideas for your spin slash.
- Your sickles glow red when you use spin slash.
- You use air instead of jumping to use spin slash.
- Mist gathers around your hands when you use spin slash.
- Illusionary butterflies fly around you before and after you use spin slash.
- You sickles get enveloped in shadows when you use spin slash.
- Your eyes glow red when you use spin slash.
Stealth Step
At 9th level as a bonus action you can teleport 20ft and you get expertise in stealth. If you teleport within 5ft of an opponent you can use sneak attack and then teleport 10ft away from them.
Blood Moon Energy
At 13th level you can perform a ranged attack that deals 1d8 force damage. From now on you can channel the energy from the blood moon during a short rest, after you channel its energy you can give yourself a extra d6 to any ability check or attack roll that you make. This d6 can only be used twice and it will be gone after the next short rest you take. Spin Slash now blinds opponents.
Redblade State
At 17th level as a bonus action you can enter a state where all your abilities are amplified. You can only enter this state once a day. When in this state you gain 10ft of movement speed, all your attacks do 1d4 extra damage, and you have advantage on all dexterity checks and saving throws.
