Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Forgiveness exists for Paladins who seek to spread kindness and empathy throughout the world. Paladins of Forgiveness believe that violence should be a last resort, utilized only when every other avenue has been exhausted.

Paladins who swear the Oath of Forgiveness may have been given the gift of forgiveness in their own lives and seek to pay that gift forward. Perhaps they spent their youth immersed in shady business and seek to atone for their past transgressions.

Tenets of Forgiveness

Let Peace be Your Starting Point. Stand before those who would seek to do wrong and extend the hand of friendship and forgiveness.

Let Bygones be Bygones. If an enemy loses the will to fight, forgive them unconditionally, and assist them in learning the error of their ways.

Kindness to One does not Prioritize Kindness to All. Creatures and people whose existence serves as a detriment to the world around them must be destroyed. Always save the most lives possible, even if you must compromise your own ideals to do so.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Forgiveness Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Oath of Forgiveness Spells

Channel Divinity

When you take this Oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Preserve Life. As an action, you can present your holy symbol and evoke healing energy that can restore a number of hit points equal to five times your Paladin level. Choose any creatures within 30 feet of you, and divide those hit points among them. This feature can restore a creature to no more than half of its hit point maximum. You can’t use this feature on an undead or a construct.

Sharing Radiance. As a bonus action, you can present your holy symbol and allow the energy of your divine healing to cloak the target’s weapon in radiant energy. If you heal a target on the turn that you use this feature, that creature’s next successful weapon attack deals additional radiant damage equal to half of the healing received. This bonus lasts for 1 minute, or until consumed.

Aura of Celestial Balm

Beginning at 7th level, the divine energy of healing radiates off of you so strongly that it forms a celestial aura. While you are not incapacitated, when friendly creatures within your aura are healed, they receive the maximum number of hit points possible from that effect. The aura extends 10 feet in all directions, but not through total cover.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Defense Against Corruption

Beginning at 15th level, you gain the ability to purify evil energy as it would strike your allies. As a reaction, if an allied creature within 10 feet of you would take radiant or necrotic damage, you can choose to have that damage heal the target for half of its intended damage, instead.

You can do this a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, and regain all expended uses upon taking a long rest.

In addition, if you use your action to heal another creature, you can choose to make a melee weapon attack as part of the same Action.

Celestial Paragon

At 20th level, you gain the ability to become the ultimate crusader for holy justice and defense. As a bonus action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute.

  • Your AC increases by 2.
  • As a bonus action, you can heal one creature within 30 feet by 10 + your Charisma modifier.
  • If you use your action to heal a creature other than yourself, you can choose to make two melee attacks as part of the same Action.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
