Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Current devote their lives to living in and around water, studying its movement and nature. Those who follow this path implement waters grace, speed, and flexibility into their combat, allowing them to gain an edge over their frigid opponents.

Wave Strike

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain an appreciation and understanding of the ocean, making your unarmed strikes emulate the power and grace of the waves.. You make your unarmed strikes with such speed and grace, increasing your reach to 10 with them. However, your unarmed strikes do not have the reach property. If you hit a Medium or smaller creature with two unarmed strikes on the same turn, the target must make a Strength saving throw against your ki save DC. If it fails, you can choose to pull it 5 feet towards you or push it 5 feet away from you. 

Healing Stream

At 6th level, you gain the ability to control the water levels within yourself, purging impurities within yourself. As an action, you may regain hit points equal to two times your monk level. In addition to this, you may remove one status effect of your choice that is currently affecting you. You must finish a long rest before you can use this feature again.

Flow Like Water

Beginning at 11th level, you have learned how to move like the current, dodging in and out of attack. As your bonus action, you may expend a number of ki points equal to half your monk level, adding 1 point to your AC for every ki point spent. This affect lasts until the end of your next turn.

Additionally, while your AC is boosted by this effect and a creature misses you, you may use your reaction to make one unarmed strike against that creature.

One With Water

At 17th level, your affinity for water has peaked, allowing you to maximize your combat. If may you expend up to 5 ki points, gaining one of the following benefits of your choice for every ki point spent:

  • Your movement increases by 20 feet
  • You do not provoke Opportunity Attacks
  • You may use Step of The Wind as a reaction
  • While under the effect of Flow Like Water, you get 2 reactions instead of 1
  • You now get a critical hit on a score of a 19 or 20 when making an unarmed strike

The effect lasts 24 hours.
