Base Class: Monk
The Way of Eight Limbs originated in the Way of the Open Hand. However, its founder, a Goliath named Lorn, thought they should focus more on offense, rather than being well rounded. This aggressive style resulted in the death of many students. Those that did survive training became the fiercest hand-to-hand fighters in the world. Once training was complete, they would travel the world, testing their skills, and return home once they believed they had mastered themselves. Then, they would challenge their elders to truly test their skill. Many never return, fearing they are not yet ready, while others return overconfident. Very few ever come back and claim victory over their masters!
Closed Fist Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your destructive power overwhelms your opponents. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can impose one of the following effects on that target:
- It must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be grappled.
- If already grappled, you may add your Strength modifier to the damage roll, in addition to your regular damage.
- It can’t take reactions until the end of your next turn.
Strength of Body
At 6th level, you have further mastered control over yourself. If you are hit with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to impose one of the following effects:
- You may add your STR modifier to your AC until the start of your next turn (should this bring your AC higher than the attack roll, the attack misses).
- If grappling a target, you may impose disadvantage on the attack roll.
Repose
Beginning at 11th level, you can enter a special meditation that surrounds you with an aura of vitality. At the end of a short rest, you gain temporary hit points equal to you {{characterlevel}}, that last until the start of your next short rest.
Tiger Strike
At 17th level, you gain the ability to deliver a lethal blow. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 3 ki points to cause a deadly wound. The target must immediately make CON saving throw. If it fails, it is reduced to 0 HP. If it succeeds, it takes 8d8 necrotic damage and has disadvantage on all Strength Ability Checks and Saving Throws for a number of days equal to your monk level.
