Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Trained as a phalanx soldier, you are a master of spear and shield combat.

Polearm Training

Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain the [feat]Polearm Master[/feat] for free. If you already possess this feat or choose it later you gain the following additional benefit.

If you are playing with flanking rules, you can treat your position as if it were 5ft closer to an enemy to determine flanking if you are wielding a weapon with the Reach property.

Phalanx

Starting at 7th level, you can add half your Strength modifier (round up) to your attack and damage rolls on opportunity attacks triggered by the [feat]Polearm Master[/feat]. You also gain a bonus to your AC against the first attack made by the tirggering creature before the start of your next turn equal to your proficiency bonus.

Additionally while wielding a shield, you gain an additional +1 bonus to your AC for each adjacent creature also wielding a shield, and to your Polearm Master opportunity attacks for each adjacent creature also wielding a polearm.

Agile Defender

At 10th level, whenever you reduce a creature to 0 hitpoints or less with a [feat]Polearm Master[/feat] opportunity attack you regain the reaction spent on the attack.

Additionally, any time you hit with a melee attack using a polearm you immediately gain 5ft of movement on that turn. As a free action on a turn that you hit with a melee attack, you may grant a +1 bonus to AC to any ally adjacent to you at any point during your turn until the start of that Ally's turn. You can use this free action a number of times per short rest equal to your STR modifier.

Skewer

Starting at 15th level, whenever you score a critical hit on an enemy using a polearm that deals piercing or slashing damage you may Pierce your weapon into that enemy. While piercing an enemy, that enemy takes 1d6+your Strength modifier damage at the start of each of it's turns. The creature's speed is reduced to 0 and it must defeat you in a Strength contest to move up to half it's speed while remaining inside your weapon range. As an action, a skewered enemy can attempt a Strength check (DC 10 + your strength modifier + the enhancement bonus of your weapon) to free themselves.

While you are skewering a creature, you cannot attack any other creature until you use an action to remove your weapon, which deals another 1d6+your Strength modifier damage again. You can drag the skewered creature at half speed if you succeed on a strength contest with the creature.

Extended Reach

At 18th level, you become exceptionally nimble and proficient with lunging attacks. Your reach increases by 5ft while wielding any polearm, as does the flanking benefit described at 3rd level.
