Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

The Storyteller is a particularly enigmatic and eccentric patron, with a soft spot for folk lore and fairy tales; stories of all types. A collector of these tales, the Storyteller scours the land in search of new accounts to tell, and on rare occasions, will bestow his gifts onto an individual with grand imagination and incredible creativity. These gifts give the person great power, and as they go forth learning new stories, their power grows too.

Enchanted Storybook

At level one, upon establishing a pact with the Storyteller, he grants you an enchanted tome. The tome when given to you contains 1 story in it, a story of the DM's choosing. The tome itself can hold stories equal to your CHA modifier (minimum of 1). The length of the story must exceed one page in the tome, and the tome will gain additional pages in order to hold the story. The tome is immune to water, fire, and necrotic effects, but can however be destroyed with physical destruction and other magical means. To replace the tome, you must spend an hour in deep meditation. The tome is reconstituted with all stories it had in it during its destruction.

Character Shift

At level 1, a pact with the Storyteller grants you a way to experience stories like no other. After a long rest, you can shift into a character from a story you currently have written into your tome. Work with your DM to create these stories and characters. If you are in your shifted form, and are brought to zero hit points, you return to your unshifted form, and cannot change until your next long rest. You cannot remain in the same shifted form for more than 24 in game hours. After the 24 hours, if you have not taken a long rest, you drop unconscious until you have rested for 1d100 in game hours.

Plot Armor

You have become proficient with shifting character, and as such you gain one of the following benefits when you shift:

- Choose one of the following base stats (STR, DEX, CON, WIS, INT, or CHA). Gain advantage with all checks and saving throws for the skill you chose, as well as all skills using that base stat. (For example, if you chose WIS, you gain advantage with Perception, Animal Handling, Survival, Medicine, and Insight.)

- Add 1d4-1 to AC, Attack Roll, and Damage. Add 1d6-1 to all Initiative Rolls. Gain temporary health equal to your CHA modifier times 1d6.

- Gain additional spell slots equal to your CHA modifier. These spell slots can be used at any level your current character has spells for. (For example, if your character only knows Level 2 spells, the spell slots cannot be used for a spell above Level 2)

- Learn 1d4 cantrips from any class spell list. You can use these cantrips as long as you remain shifted.

Improved Shift

You have slowly begun to master the art of shifting characters, and as such gain the following benefits:

- You can now switch characters twice per long rest, once when finishing a long rest, and another before your next long rest.

- You can now stay in character for up to 48 in game hours without penalty.

- Being brought to zero hit points no longer forces you to revert to your normal form.

Improved Storybook

The Storyteller, eager to help in your pursuit of new tales, has given you a new storybook that grants that following benefits:

- This book can now hold cities equal to your CHA modifier times 2.

- Stories told within 15 feet of this book are now inscribed through magical means. It is no longer necessary to physically write down the stories.

- The book can only now be destroyed with a Wish spell.

A Story that Never Ends

Your otherworldly ability to shift into characters has allowed you to flawlessly maintain character, allowing you to experience these stories continually. You gain the following benefits:

- When reduced to zero hit points, instead of falling unconscious, you now remain in character, and regain 1 health. This feature can only be used once per long rest.

- You now can gain the benefits of a long rest by spending the time equivalent to a short rest reading tales from your book.
