Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The Earth Song is the music of the magic of nature, specifically of the land and mountains. Earthsingers are beings born with the inate ability to tap into that magic and manipulate it to their whims, creating barriers of stone, launching masses of earth, and protecting themselves with the incredible force of nature. Earthsingers have differing ways to attach themselves to this power; some sing, dance, or play an instrument in tune with the unheard music, others simply are able to reach into the magic stream and wrench the power free. Whatever way they accomplish it, the powers of an Earthsinger are those to be wary of, and, to their enemies, feared.

Bonus Proficiencies

Starting at 1st level, you gain proficiency with the Performance skill and one instrument of your choice.

Tearing Earth

Starting at 1st level, the force of your magics tapping into the Earth Song tears chunks of earth from the ground. These chunks can then be utilised by you for various other abilities.

When you cast a spell, you can gain a number of Chunks equal to the spell's level. You can have a maximum number of Chunks equal to twice your Proficiency Bonus. Chunks can be used to fuel other abilities.

Earth Flinger

Starting at 1st level, you are able to manipualte and fling the earth with incredible force.

When you hit a creature with an attack, you can expend a number of Chunks up to half your Proficiency Bonus (rounded up). Roll a number of d6 equal to the number of Chunks expended and add the total to the damage roll of the attack.

Alternatively, as an action, you can expend and fling any number of Chunks at a target within 60 feet of you. You can direct the Chunks at the same target or at different ones. Make a spell attack roll for each Chunk. On hit, a target takes 1d6 magical bludgeoning damage.

You can use this feature once per turn.

Stone Defenses

Starting at 6th level, the dirt and stones that you tear from the earth can be used to protect you.

As a reaction, when you are hit by an attack, you can expend a number of Chunks up to a maximum equal to your Proficiency Bonus. Until the start of your next turn, you have a bonus to your AC equal to the number of Chunks expended, including against the triggering attack.

Arcane Masonry

Starting at 14th level, the Earth Song resonates in your ears constantly, allowing you to more easily access its power.

You can expend a number of Chunks to cast one of the following spells without requiring Material components or expending spell slots. The number of Chunks differs for each spell.

Optional Additional Spells Rule

At the GM's discretion, you may be able to use this feature with other spells not listed, such as spells from other sourcebooks or even homebrew spells. A general rule regarding whether a spell is suitable for this feature is whether it manipulates or controls stone or dirt. When determining the cost of the spell, a number of chunks equal to the spell's level plus between 1-4 is generally appropriate, based on the magnitude of the effect.

Earth's Serenade

Starting at 18th level, the Earth Song that echoes through nature has begun to shift and change as your own song becomes stronger.

While you have at least 6 Chunks, you gain the following benefits;

  • While you are on the ground, you ignore difficult terrain and cannot be moved by other effects or creatures unless you allow it
  • You can move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving your hands free as long as those surfaces are made of dirt or stone
  • At the start of your turn, you regain HP equal to your current number of Chunks if you have no more than half (and not 0) of your HP remaining
