Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of the Storm calls to those who have seen the worst of the world, whose anger and rage have burned a place for itsef in the heavens. Often driven to ensure that others do not suffer the injustices that they have, they scour the world in search of wrongdoers who have escaped their judgement by one means or another, rooting out those who would manipulate the less fortunate by way of strength, or coin. These stalwart wanderers can be found where the wealthy and powerful reside, as they often find themselves doing their best to hide, believing that the wind guides their hand, and that the bolts of lightning that break the sky are their call to action. Often they will make offerings to Anhur, should they find themselves in pursuit of altruism, or Talos, should their goals be wanton destruction.

TENETS OF THE STORM

The tenets of the Oath of the Storm have been found inscribed upon ancient temples atop mountains and violent coastlines, where the Sky would be most unforgiving. The Oath of Storm reveres strength, and followers believe that they must view the world as the Storm does: All can be destroyed, should it stand in their way.

Calm Before the Storm. One should remain composed, until such a moment arrives that their ire is well deserved. Those who would use their wrath freely as a tool of power shall be smote.

Equal in the Eyes of Destruction. The Storm does not treat the King with more kindness than the Pauper. Thunder and Lightning will rend them both asunder for equal transgressions.

Prosperity in the Wake of ruin. The Storms provide life in abundance as much as death. The waters provide succor to the thirsty, and grain for the starved. One must strive to leave their wake with bounty, rather than destruction - to embrace this kindness is to know when to extend a hand for both peace and war.

Unyielding. There is no in-between, as the Lightning will give its all with each and every strike. Through unleashing ones passion, one can find strength and conviction unwavering, even in the most bleak of circumstance

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Cloud Chain. As an Action, you may create a harmless chain of lightning with which to latch onto a foe. Choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you, forcing them to succeed on a Strength Saving Throw. Creatures greater than one size larger than you roll with advantage.

On a failed save, the chain of lightning wraps around their body for 1 minute, and pulls them 10 feet towards you in a straight line. While the chain is attached, the target cannot willingly move away from you, and you can use a bonus action to pull the creature an additional 5 feet closer to you.

The creature may reattempt this saving throw at the end of each turn.

Stoorm Surge. As a Bonus Action, you can emit a pulse of lightning from your body 5 feet in all directions, forcing all creatures within the radius to make a Constitution Saving throw. On a failed save, the creature cannot take reactions until the start of your next turn, and their movement speed is halved.

Aura of Gales

Starting at 7th level, you emit an aura that brings out the inner rage of those nearby while you're not incapacitated. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover.

A powerful gale lies in wait, swirling around you and any creatures near you. Ranged attack rolls made against creatures within the aura are made with disadvantage.

When you reach 18th level in this class, the range of the aura increases to 30 feet.

Blessing of the Sky

Starting at 15th level, you gain resistance to Lightning and Thunder damage. You may also choose to deal Thunder damage for your unarmed strikes in place of your natural damage type.

Storm Breaker

At 20th level, the paladin can, as an action, become an avatar of the Storm itself for 1 minute. While in this state, your eyes glow the color of lightning as bolts of energy crackle along your skin,

The paladin emits an aura out to 30 feet in this state where sparks of lightning fly from their body, or any exposed metal nearby. Creatures within this aura become vulnerable to Lightning and Thunder damage, and are considered to be on difficult terrain if they are wearing metal armor, or are composed primarily of metal.

While the aura lasts, the paladin can use a bonus action on their turn to call down a bolt of lightning to attack one creature. the paladin makes a ranged spell attack against the target. If the attack hits, the target takes lightning damage equal to 3d10 + the paladin's Charisma modifier.

After activating the aura, the paladin can’t do so again until he or she finishes a long rest.
