Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Many barbarians use their raw rage and adrenaline to display martial prowess, but there are also some that see a higher value in the power of their fury. These barbarians, through training or cultural teachings, have learned to supress some of the brutish natures of their rage and condense it down to give them greater focus and precision.

Contain the Fury

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you have learned to harness your rage, allowing it to be a tool you can use that provides clarity and discipline. While raging you gain the following benefits:

  • You may add your Rage Damage bonus to the first attack roll you make on your turn.
  • You weapon attacks score a critical hit on a 19 as well as a 20.
  • You may take the Disengage action as a bonus action.

Hone the Spirit

At 6th level, your focused and disciplined nature allows you to shake off most brutal blows and elevate your senses. Whenever you would get hit by an attack that's considered a critical hit, you may use your reaction to turn it into a normal hit. Alternatively, you may this feature as a bonus action on your turn to give yourself blindsight up to 20 feet until the beginning of your next turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum once) and regains all uses after completing a long rest.

Controlled Aggression

Beginning at 10th level, you have learned to control your rage but understand the merit of occasionally allowing its reckless nature to take hold. Now while raging, when you use your Reckless Attack feature you can add your rage damage bonus to your AC. This bonus lasts until the beginning of your next turn. Additionally, you also now score a critical hit on a 18, 19 and 20 on the d20.

Master the Focus

Upon reaching 14th level, your ability to use your rage to ground yourself rather than give in to easier alternatives has allowed you to truly reap the rewards of your discipline. When you rage and you score a critical hit, you gain temporary hit points equal to 1d10 + half your barbarian level. Additionally, whenever you roll initiative and you have no more uses of your Hone the Spirit feature remaining, you regain one expended use.
