Base Class: Ranger
A warrior of the great plains is a ranger that has trained in large plains where mounts are frequently used for companionship, survival, and combat. As a result, these rangers have a special bond with their mount and advanced training in mounted combat. The Great Plains Warrior is an expert in survival and tracking like most other rangers, but has a particular specialization in mounted combat. They are most feared while riding their mount where their speed, and ferocity disorients their foes.
Born to Ride
At 3rd level you've become accustomed to riding a mount in combat. You gain a +1 to AC and to hit with ranged weapons while riding a mount. You also have advantage on saves to stay on your mount, and mounting or dismounting only requires 5ft of movement.
Bonded Mount
At 3rd level, you can spend a short rest bonding with your mount. When bonded in this way, you can give simple commands (go to a point within sight, stay, etc...) to your mount as a free action which they will follow to the best of their ability. You can also whistle for your mount. If your mount is within 1 mile of you, and has the ability to, it will come to you as fast as it's movement speed allows.
Advanced Tracking and Training
At 3rd level you have honed your tracking and animal handling abilities. You have advantage on survival checks used to track a creature and any animal handling checks involving trained mounts.
Riding cover
At 7th level, you've learned advanced mounted combat maneuvers to keep yourself safe at the expense of your mount. As a bonus action you can slide half way off your mount using them as 3/4 cover from anyone on the opposite side of your horse. While riding in this way, you can only use light ranged weapons.
Mobilizer
At 7th level, you've learned to use your mount to help mobilize your friends. As a bonus action, while riding your mount, you can pick up a willing or unconscious creature and put them on your mount. After performing this maneuver you must return to a normal riding position. i.e. you can not remain in the 'Riding Cover' position until you use a bonus action to assume that position again.
Arcane Steed
At 11th level, you learn the Phantom Steed and Find Steed spells. They are ranger spells for you and do not count against your number of known spells. You can use this feature up to your Wisdom modifier times each day. You are automatically bonded to any mounts created with this spell as per the "Bonded Mount" feature.
War Cry
At 15th level, you can let out a deafening war cry to bolster your allies and disorient your foes. As a bonus action on your turn, you can let out a war cry. This war cry gives you and all allies (including your mount) within 60ft, advantage on attack rolls and saving throws for the next minute. If there are enemies within your 60 ft range, they must make a wisdom save against your spell save DC or become frightened of you for 1 minute. You can use this feature once per day.
