Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Weave have, through meditation and study, managed to tap into the weave of magic directly, gaining the ability to cast spells through their research, much like a wizard might. These monks are also able to imbue their monastic abilities with the magic of the weave, enhancing their abilities and gaining the upper hand on their foes.

Way of the Weave Features

MONK LEVEL FEATURE
3rd Expert of the Arcane, Spellcasting
6th Sagely Mage
11th Regenerate Mana
17th Cantrip Infusion

Expert of the Arcane

Starting when you choose this Monastic Tradition at 3rd level, you have proficiency in the Intelligence (Arcana) skill, and any ability check you make with that skill has the proficiency bonus doubled.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the wizard spell list.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the wizard spell list. You learn another wizard cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Way of the Weave Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your wizard spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell charm person and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast charm person using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level wizard spells of your choice.

The Spells Known column of the Way of the Weave Spellcasting table shows when you learn more wizard spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Spellcasting Ability

Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your wizard spells, since you learn your spells through dedicated study and memorisation. You use your Intelligence whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Intelligence modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a wizard spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Sagely Mage

Beginning at 6th level, you learn to tie your spellcasting more directly into your martial arts. When you use your action to cast a spell or cantrip, you can use your bonus action to make an unarmed strike. Alternatively, if you choose to spend a ki point, you can instead use your Flurry of Blows feature as a bonus action after using your action to cast a spell or cantrip.

Regenerate Mana

At 11th level, you gain the ability to regenerate spell slots. Once per long rest, you can spend 1 minute in deep meditation. When you do so, you can recover expended spell slots whose total combined level are equal to or less than half of your Monk level (rounded up), though none of the slots can be of 4th level.

Cantrip Infusion

At 17th level, you gain the ability to cast magic in unison with your martial arts. Once per turn, when you take the attack action, you can cast one of the cantrips you have access to through your Spellcasting feature as a free action. If the cantrip you cast is a spell attack, it must target the recipient of your other attack as well.
