Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

The beast master is a ranger that has forged a unbreakable bond of friendship with an animal companion.

Ranger’s Companion

At 3rd level, you gain a beast companion that accompanies you on your adventures and is trained to fight alongside you. Choose a beast that is no larger than Medium and that has a challenge rating of 1/4 or lower. That creature gains the ability to understand all languages you speak and becomes a third level sidekick in either the warrior or expert classes (it need not be able to speak a language to gain the expert class, but all skills it takes proficiency in must make sense, DM's discretion). It gains a level in the chosen class whenever you level up. You control your companion, and it acts immediately after you in combat.

If the beast dies, you can obtain a new companion by spending 8 hours magically bonding with a beast that isn’t hostile to you and that meets the requirements. This new beast's level in its chosen class is equal to the level of your previous companion minus 1.

Of One Mind

If your companion has an intelligence score of 5 or lower, its intelligence score becomes 6. Furthermore, you and your companion may communicate telepathically as long as you are within 10 miles of each other.

Battle Bonded

Starting at 11th level, whenever you companion hits a creature with an attack, you gain advantage on attacks against that creature until the start of your companion's next turn.

Additionally, your companion's attacks become magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances and immunities, and it gains the benefits of the hunter's mark spell against creatures you have marked with this spell.

Share Spells

Beginning at 15th level, when you cast a spell targeting yourself, you can also affect your beast companion with the spell if the beast is within 30 feet of you.
