Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Monkey King seek a connection to a divine power that would grant unimaginable combat prowess. These monks are obsessed With self-improvement, going to great lengths to strengthen not only their body but their mind or any aspect of themselves that can be enhanced.

Way of the Monkey King Monks value solidarity but will seldom pair with another Monk due to their haughty attitude about the skills they posses. However they are aware of their shortcomings and will chose a group that covers any weakness they have.

Monks that walk this path wear clothes that offer high mobility but can’t help but adorn themselves in gold accents and jewelry as to emulate the Monkey King himself.

Power Pole

By meditating with the quarterstaff for 1 hour and pouring your Ki into the weapon it gains mystical properties. While using the quarterstaff you can expend 1 Ki point as an action to active one of the following effects:

  • When you make an attack the range is 30 feet for that attack as the quarterstaff extends to reach the target.
  • Spin the quarterstaff above your head and each creature within 5 feet must succeed a dexterity saving throw or take damage equal to the weapons damage die.
  • Plant the quarterstaff on solid ground and it pushes the user up to 30 feet in a direction.

Playful Distraction

At 6th level when you use your step of the wind ability to disengage you can expend an additional Ki point to become invisible until the start of your next turn, the effect ends if you attack or target an enemy with a harmful effect. While invisible an illusory duplicate takes your place distracting enemies within 5 feet of it, any attack against a creature within 5 feet of the duplicate has advantage. The duplicate disappears when your invisibility ends.

As an action you throw your mystical quarterstaff into the sky and it transforms into a golden nimbus cloud that you can ride on. While riding the Nimbus you gain a flying speed of 60 feet and attack rolls have disadvantage against you. However, you cannot make attacks while riding the Nimbus as you need to have a clear head to not fall through the cloud.

Equal to Heaven

At 17th level you have attained such mastery that the Monkey King himself has taken notice. To use this action you must have no Ki points remaining, if you do you may expend them as part of this action. While you have no Ki, and for 1 minute your body becomes a vessel that can house the spirit of the Monkey King. While housing the spirit of the Monkey King you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain 50 temporary hit points.
  • You can use your Power Pole ability without expending Ki points as your body is filled with divine Ki.
  • You can make attacks while riding the Nimbus as the spirit of the Monkey King always possesses a clam mind.

After the effect ends you gain 3 levels of exhaustion from your physical body exerting itself as if you were the Monkey King. You cannot regain the use of your Ki until you recover from all levels of exhaustion.
