The Overgod

Ao's job seems simple enough: keep all the deities and primordials of the multiverse in line. It is his job to ensure that they stick to their domains and provide for their worshipers. If they step out of line, or shirk their duties, they may get demoted or even destroyed.

Unlike those "normal" deities, Ao's power is not derived from the faith and worship of followers. He doesn't need it, nor does he want it. In fact Ao cares little for mortals outside of their relation to the deities, and doesn't want them to know he exists. However, when a particularly ambitious mortal seeks to ascend to the level of godhood it's up to Ao to decide whether it happens. If a deity is destroyed it is up to Ao to find a replacement. The deities of your world were assigned your world by Ao.

As a patron Ao may be distant but when he speaks you better listen, and the only acceptable reason for failure is death. If you die while performing your duties Ao may choose to resurrect you, he may send you to whatever afterlife you choose, or you may become a deity if he was truly impressed. If you failed in your duties for any reason other than death you likely will be punished. Fail too many times and you may suffer a fate that would give Tharizdun nightmares.

Some examples of tasks you might be given are: prevent someone from completing an ascension ritual, mediate a dispute between deities on his behalf, deliver a warning to a primordial, give a beat down to a lesser deity or idol, or any number of other tasks ranging from cosmically important to seemingly inconsequential.

Divine Resistance

As Ao is above the gods of the multiverse, you are resistant to their energies. Any damage dealt from radiant and necrotic energy is halved. If you were already resistant to radiant and/or necrotic energy this ability means you take half of the already resisted damage.

Will of the Overgod

Ao's will be done. At sixth level Ao grants you a level of willpower rare among mortals. As such it's much more difficult for others to exert control over you.

Primordial Resistance

Due to Ao's role over the primordial powers of the multiverse you gain the ability to shrug off some of the damage from elemental and para-elemental energies. This stacks with racial resistances.

Messenger of the Overgod

As the messenger of Ao you have an air about you that makes people want to listen. Moreover, you pick up on the patterns of the world around you more easily. Also through exposure to him you gain Ao's immunity to being Charmed or Frightened.
