Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of Restraint monk has been practiced as long as creatures have existed. The Art of grabbing, restraining, and incapacitating your opponent is one of the most ancient and respected traditions. When a Way of Restraint monk grabs ahold of an enemy, they might as well give up then and there. These monks have been known to submit enemies twice their size using nothing but their bare hands. If you like to solve your problems by grabbing the bull by the horns, this class is for you.

Restraining Grabs

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your enemy’s bodies with ease. Whenever you successfully grapple a creature with, you can impose one of the following effects on that target using a ki point providing the creature is at least of your size or smaller:

  • It must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be thrown prone onto the ground, taking 2d4+Strength bludgeoning damage. (Remains Grappled)
  • It must make a Strength saving throw. If it fails, you can restrain the target fully.
  • It must make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw or begin to be strangled. If the target fails, it begins to suffocate.
