Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Serpent revere the power and grandeur of a being known as the World Serpent. They alter their own ki to resonate with serpentine might, channeling it to augment their prowess in battle and disable their foes.

Serpentine Arts

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can channel your serpentine ki to imbue your unarmed strikes with the essence of a serpent's venom and to use your connection with reptilian creatures to magnify your presence. You gain the following benefits:

  • When you damage a target with an unarmed strike, you can change the damage type to acid or poison
  • Your movement speed increases by 5 feet
  • You gain proficiency in Deception
  • You learn how to speak Abyssal and Draconic, but must learn to read and write them if you couldn't already

One with the Snake

At 3rd level, you become more like a serpent in mind and body. You now know the Poison Spray cantrip. You can cast Animal Friendship an unlimited number of times with this feature, but you can target only snakes with it. Additionally, you are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition.

Venomous Strike

At 6th level, you gain the ability to poison those that are hit by your Flurry of Blows.  you can interfere with the flow of ki in an opponent's body. When you hit another creature with a Flurry of Blows, you can spend 2 ki points to attempt a venomous strike. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be poisoned until the end of their next turn.

Serpent's Lash

Starting at 11th level, you can move with a sudden and violent burst of speed. As an action on your turn, you can expend 2 Ki points to dash up to 10 feet in a direction of your choice without provoking opportunity attacks and deliver an unarmed strike that crits on a d20 roll of 17-20.

If this attack misses, you fall prone and the next attack roll made against you has advantage. If the attack hits, it pushes the target up to 5 feet away from you. If the attack crits, you roll the damage die three times instead of twice and it pushes the target up to 10 feet away from you.

Irrefutable

At 17th level, you learn how to detect and neutralize resistances to your venomous Ki. Whenever you hit a creature with a Venomous Strike or Serpent's Lash, you can expend 4 additional Ki points to remove the targeted creature's resistance to acid damage and poison damage if they have them. If the creature has immunity, it is replaced by resistance.. This effect lasts for 1 minute and does not affect immunity to the poisoned condition- nor does it effect objects/vehicles.

Additionally, getting a critical hit on an unarmed melee attack now gives you 1 Ki point. Immediately after getting this Ki point, you can choose to expend it to gain immunity to acid damage that goes away immediately after the next time you take acid damage.
